Do you guys have problems with plug wires cracking/melting by the downpipe? My MSD wires have cracked. Is anyone using something to protect them from the downpipe or just the heat?? I think I have a MISS in the car thanks to the cracked wires!! I have a 2.5in ATR downpipe also. I was thinking just some kind of heat wrap to go around the wires from the valve cover down to the head. But, want to know what holds up good! TIA, Nick

I can give you some advice because I had the same problem. I will look at my car and give you a resonse when I can see in daylight. Brad

Are your wires routed down behind the alternator and behind the heat shield next to the valve cover? If not, that may be your problem.

Bryan is correct. My mechanic followed Brian C's route and covered the wire with black plactic wire covers. These melted slightly from the heat as well. Now I run the black flexible black plastic over the spark plug wire plus a flexible aluminium hose cover for the wires. All is good. Let me know if you need info on the alum. ignition wire heat shield. Brad

I have a cutout in my turbo injector bracket to ease installation of my oil drain return, which also works well for running the wires behind it through the cutout keeping them out of harms way, I think that this is something all hotairs should do

Well I had to throw new MSD wires on cause the last set had some bad cracks from the heat. They were arching out at higher rpms. All also put some thermo tech heat wrap on the wires in the downpipe area. The thermo tech stuff is great but if it touches the downpipe just a little they will get a burnt mark on them. So, I am done F$%ING around I am just ordering some black header wrap to wrap the atr downpipe in from the turbo down to the valve cover area. Not a fan of header wrap but I am not buying a new set of wires again. This way I know for sure the wires are protected!!!! :o
Anybody have their up pipe wraped? Nick
