GNs make a hell of a undercover car in some places.
I've also heard of Flordia, and I know that Georgia use confiscated cars for traffic enforcement.

strange to me......you would think if it was used by the govt it would have a lot more miles on it.....and it moved around florida a few times.....used by police everytime>?.....huh.....where did you buddy get the car?

Hey guys.. its my car. I just bought it off ebay. It had a ton of recipts in the glove box.
I One of the recipts for the motor only shows it has only 12,000 miles on the rebuild. Build by a GN shop in fort lauderdale named harpers racing. looks like they put in a ATR 313 B cam and rebuilt it mostly stck on the inside. Looks as thought the customer was too cheap to have the block prepped properly to .030 so they honed it and installed a new set of std bore pistons in it. Its still a score that the motor is fairly fresh. lots of new stuff and I bought it cheap.
Now its time to det it track ready and paint and interior. It has a B&M shifter in it that has to come out !! maybe sombody in here has a stock one for sale cheap.
I'm thinking they took it from a drug dealer and used it undercover. Maybe I'll get a surprise when i pull the back seat out to reupholster ! great car just needs a little TLC.
Is that ATR cam any good for a MILD street car? thanks ! Steve

thats what figured also.......taken from someone...local cops here took a buddy's 86 gn a few years ago...they made a few buys with it, beat on it a little then parked it under a bunch of tree's behind the station....sat there for a couple of years....ruined it! ....they would not sell it... I tried a few times

CT state police used them as pursuit vehicles back when they were new, Used to strike fear into anyone that saw one on the interstate. Must have been fun owning one new back then. Bet people moved out of your way when they saw you coming.

Funny story happened today, waiting for the mailman to make the daily pickup for my business and when he showed up I carried the boxes over to his truck. Wasn't the regular driver and he asked me what my business was and when I told him I sell custom parts for Turbo Regals he sort of freaked out.

He is a retired state cop and now driving a mail truck. Anyway, he used to drive the Turbo Regals for the state police. Said it was the most fun he ever had driving police vehicles. Asked him if he wanted to see what was in the garage and showed him my GN. Said it brought back a lot of memories but the motor in his cop car didn't look like mine.

Ain't that the truth. You should have warned him to put on his shades, with all that chrome under there. The poor guy probably needs an eye exam. :)

Mark, don't know if I told ya my T is an ex CT State Police 'chase car'!! BUT who ever had it took pretty good care of it, well except for the pass side rear quarter.....;)

Motor in my car was built by harper about 10 years ago. It also has the 313b cam in it. With just 22 lbs of boost on 93 octane and alky it pulled 405 rwhp, and 545 rwtq. That's about 500 hp and 700 tq at the crank, so for a "slightly larger than stock" cam it does pretty good.

Well,
I'm in the middle of stripping the multi coats of single stage paint. I've used a razor blade to peel sheets off and the original paint remains. I found two secions of grey primer, one on each side on the roof and wondered why the hell they would be there,,, I pulled the headliner down to see whats under there and there were the holes where the lightbar used to be. It also has two holes drilled in the front headliner trim piece and three holes drilled on each side of the third brake light.
The front bumper also has two hole drilled in the top that sombody put bumper bolts into just to cover the holes. Maybe it used to have lights mounted on the bumper?
Its still cool to see the past history of the car. Its really a sold car other than the multi paint jobs. Now its time to start blocking and give it a nice base clear paint job.
Just filling you guys in... I'm guessing an ex drug car that vero beach PD confiscated and had a blast using as a cop car. Still a cool car !!!
Oh !!! it also has screw holes on the passenger side of the console probobly for their laptop and a group of wires crammed under the console ashtray for what I dont know... maybe power to the laptop or something. seeya ! Steve

cop cars are great ...:frown: but not when they car doing speed enforcement with a blue 02 Z28, unmarked sneeky homo's at least they let me off. Officer laughed a little and agreed it was a good thing I stopped cause I was pulling on him hard. . It helped when I asked are you allowed to bait people like that ?? I was scared for my life thats why I took off. thought you were some crazy..

I just cant imagine a GN with a light bar on the top,it must of been intimidating when one got behind you..

I thought they would be more stealth than that...Take some pics of it..

Maybe it was a "DARE" car or something like that? I can't imagine them using it anything else...

Yup, probably a dare car. The holes in the front bumper sound like there may have been a push bar mounted up there.

Said it brought back a lot of memories but the motor in his cop car didn't look like mine.

Thats right NOBODY's Motor looks as nice as YOURS!..

Funny Last year when I was a fill in mailman i drove up to this house with a sweet 68 California Special Skylark GS. I took my break right there & shot the breeze with my new found buick buddy!
