What the best way to do this? Have heard of sanding them and buffing them, but not sure about that was hoping someone here might have done this anyone on this?

Just try some rubbing compound or metal polish on a rag with some elbow grease. May do the trick for you. You can also buff lightly with a buffer and compound. Then wax.

I just did mine with Meguiars PLASTX, it's a "clear plastic cleaner & polish"
You can get it at most auto parts stores and it's easy to use.

The results were amazing, they have a better than new shine.

Untitled Document has a coating system that i think will work. It's for headlights, I'm not sure if it will work for the tail lights. There waxes and compounds are some of the best stuff i have ever used. Try the XA313 wax, you will love it on a black car.

I use Meguiar's No. 7 Show Car Polish stuff....with a sisel buffing wheel attached to an old electric drill...

Spread the polish on the lens with your finger and buff back and forth....always keep the polish on the lens wet so you won't melt the plastic....then wipe with a clean white cloth. Keep checking the area you are polishing until you're satisfied with the shine.

Results are amazing. Shines like nobody's business. I can even eliminate scratches.

This method takes patience and time so if you don't have that...try the other methods suggested here...time for one Regal tail light to polish up about 40-50 minutes by doing it carefully to not melt the lens.

No. 7 is about $10 at Advance Auto.
