Political Topics

Was wondering what everyone else thought. Not a whole lot of car related topics.

James, it gets like that when we're at war. And the war makes this election the most important one most of us will ever participate in.

Cars, even as much as I obsess over them, fall to the back burner of discussion topics in times like these.

Even the arguments are fun/interesting/enlightening to some extent. It's kinda like having a heated discussion with a family member for me. You both have something in common (Turbo Buicks) and you'll probably get along fine in most other areas. But you'll end up "agreeing to disagree" where political opinions are concerned.

I think they have the 'right' to be here but I don't like having to scroll past them. I rank the religious threads in the same boat. The problem with putting them in their own category is that people like me who read the “view new posts” way will still have to scroll through them and go no…no…no….god no….no…until we get to something related to Buicks which is why we are here in the first place.

It would be nice if you could include or exclude certain forums from ‘view new posts’ view but I doubt that will happen.

Iam interested in knowing if the community would like having a forum directed at political and religious views only..

Please vote and leave a post on some of your views of why we should have that type of forum or why we should'nt have that type of forum.

They need their own forum. An Unmoderated,All-out Melee, Trash-talkin,Bogus-pic pastn, Propaganda spreadin,Poll-Takin,ALL CAPS WRITIN,Slow GN Tauntin, pointin' my finger at the screen and sayin"Oh no he didn't!!" forum.:D

j/k, but I would like a seperate forum for politics so I could avoid it if I wanted to, or get an overall opinion about it..

I was curious to see what the rest of you thought. I don't mind the discussions really since I've participated in some myself, but I think it can lead to some ill feelings. I have to admit there are some people that I don't have very much respect for because of their political views, which in reality probably isn't very fair. Just hard to have a good time and mix politics and religion too I guess.

I think there should be a separate forum heading for political and religious topics.
One thing, though, I suspect people are holding back somewhat when posting to political threads right now, and if there is a forum heading for that topic specifically, things may get really heated.
Anyone venturing into a possible political or religious forum heading will need to have thick skin and remember that we are adults, or, to put it another way, not cry like a baby.

We should because that stuff often invades other threads that were not intended to be of that type. Also, new threads get bumped off of the first page in 5 minutes flat with the constant posting on the political/religio-nuts topics.

Get Jesus Outta The Lounge!

There are other boards for political and religious topics. I come here to read and share info about turbo Buicks, not the other BS.

YES, PLEASE
Im tired of the SAME people posting the SAME issues over and over again, which of course I have to reply to, to show them they're wrong ;)

BINGO!!!! Although I've been guilty in occasionally participating in these threads I think all POLITICAL, RELIGIOUS, and IRAQ threads should not be allowed!!! The lounge has gone from a fun place hang out to a dark dreary b!tch fest. There is a member here has a politics/religion/war board. Go there and b!tch and whine about eveything. Keep it off this board.

I agree with several here. Most of what is being said is useless mis-information you can pick up anywhere. With the whole of the Internet being a vast wasteland of porn and unsubstantiated B.S., it would be nice to see the board back to point of turbo Buick and car related information and discussion alone.
It would be just a continuation of the level of respect this board has enjoyed if so.

I voted NO! There just happens to be a lot going on right now. If a thread is political, and you're not interested, you don't have to check it out. What's the difference? People aren't posting trivial persuits because there are political threads? I don't think so. Do they take up too much room? :D They have no effect except to those interested in reading or participating.

I'll have to agree with you too.....
Isn't that the reason why under the Heading Turbo Lounge It says "a place for off topic discussions".

People need a place to vent off steam, lest they vent it off on the street and rid the world of 1 more GN/TR/GNX/TTA. If they don't like the views of the few postings, views, threads, and replies, in the Lounge, go lounge someplace else. The JYD forum seems to be an exciting place to lounge if things don't fit your fancy.

It doesn't do any good to have them in the lounge when you like to just read the 'active' threads of the past few hours. That method does not allow you to exclude certain forums. If it did that would solve the problem.

You would only see Buick related issues unless you CHOOSE to go to the lounge and read the other stuff.

As it stands right now I don't have to read the threads but I do have to scroll past them hoping something of relevance to the board will appear.

I think all POLITICAL, RELIGIOUS, and IRAQ threads should not be allowed!!!

and I think that smells like Censorship!!!!!

it's been said time and time again, if it dosn't interest you, don't read the thread! And don't cry about "It's cluttering up the Lounge",

Gimme a break.

I think they should have their own forum. I don't like scrolling through them and lately I've thought about skipping the lounge due to the lack of buick or car related content. I think of the lounge as a place to discuss buick related questions that don't fall into the "tech" category. If it becomes political and religious, people will start posting questions related to the history of the cars in tech and then tech will become more flooded.

Just my opinion and I know it means nothing to anyone.

Bottom Line........this is a car forum, if you want to get in political and / or religious discussions, then go elsewhere. All those discussions only take up space on this board.

The Lounge is clearly marked on the main page as being a place for off topic discussions. As in, off the topic of Buicks!! Hello!;)
