yeah, there's a test that you can take that will tell what region you grew up in by the use of certain words. (say calling it a skillet, fryer frying pan spider etc.) you go through, answer the qusetions and it'll tell you a region, sometimes even a county or a city. They tend to be pretty accurate, last one I took said I was from the Bllings area, which I was a long time ago.

I will bet that was a federally funded study and that someone got a $1,000,000 grant from your tax dollars to complete it.

When I first went to school in Buffalo NY after living just outside NYC my whole life, I had a simliar funny incident. I called to have some pizza delivered for the first time and the conversation went something like this:

Girl: "Santora's, can I help you?"
Me: "Yes, I'd like to order one large pie for delivery please."
Girl: "Sorry, we don't sell pies."

I thought it was funny :)

Like the first time I ordered a cup of coffee in upstate New York. She asks if I want "Regular." "Sure" I say. It came with heavy cream and sugar in it. Since when does "regular" coffee come with cream and sugar? Regular should be black coffee..right?

There's a little town I work in called Liberty, NC. Population of about 9! When I first came to work here, I ordered a cheesedog for takeout from a local greasy-spoon. When I got to work and unwrapped it it was just a bun with a stick of cheese on it! I called them and told them they left off the weiner. They said I should have ordered a combo-dog with cheese. I was like, "what if I order a cheeseburger, will I get just a burger bun with cheese?" Strange place...

Same thing with the term "Coney Dog" around here. My wife and in-laws had never heard of them in Wisconsin.
