Welp I've probably posted about the same thing 30 billion times, but anyhow.. I've been playing with the tuning a bit and have come up with this.

After putting on a Rebuilt '87 turbo and a Walbro 307 pump, its hooked up tuner style with a single line wastegate, making about 16 PSI.

I just put new plugs in, after a horrible fouling from I think, using Citgo 93 fuel? WTF do these look like to you experts?

Welp, this is the 2nd day for the plugs, and I had decent quality fuel this time, and i turned the FP to around 36 PSI and drove a good 90 miles yesterday around the city.

Today I took out a plug and it had carbon around the ring, but not on the electrodes.

I re set it to 38 PSI and took it out with some shell 93 and it seemed pretty good, showing one yellow LED on my knock gauge going into 3rd, I wasn't able to stay into it because a car infront of me.. It probably would have knocked more though as the boost maxed. IT was probably making 15 when it went into 3rd.

Could this knock be too much boost, FP, or spark?

I have a #109 longblock, '87 ECM with a stock chip using a '84 MAF and AC CR43TS plugs gapped at .032" on Ford motosports 9mm wires connecting to a stock hotair coil/module. (I had MSD 8 mm super conductors, I put the fords on just to see if the msd's were bad at one point, but the fords seem to work just great so i left em on :p)

I also have a '87 radiator with a oil cooler adapter and external tranny cooler, the motor runs cool right at 160-165ish

I guess I'm just not really sure where I should be around the FP area, I know when i run 100 octane theres no knock whatsoever, but that could indicate too much boost, timing, or too lean..

(No, I don't have a scan tool! (No I can't afford one either..))

Dude,WTF is right, never seen that one and I hope it's the Citgo. No Sunoco's in your neck of the woods?Strict diet of 94 with an occasional dash of 101.I am also hooked up tuner style and noticed that if I am not to the floor with the pedal under decent boost it will knock a little.Seems that at say 2/3 throttle the boost comes up but the TPS is sending a low signal to the ecm which will lean it out in a hurry if I am not mistaken.I am going to assume the boost solenoid would prevent this if it were hooked up,so if you are running tuner style then it would seem if you want to kick some boost it better be on the floor to give max tps voltage if it is over say 12 psi.Otherwise just cruise.Maybe someone with more experience than I could add something?

I have sunoco stations but i havent seen 94 at them? I will go by one again and see though, hmm..

These new plugs arent showing any signs of that white stuff so far so thats good, I am going to check the plugs again tomorrow to see how they look whether or not im going rich.

Car does feel pretty decent though.. it'd be nice if i knew for sure though.. I shouldnt have sold my G-Tech. hey wheres they guy I sold it too, I know hes here, um, hey! gimmie it back!! please! lol

anyhow. ..

Change your brand of gas. I have a book here that says that ashy buildup/deposit is from oil and/or fuel additives. Just a thought! HTH

I'm sure you've heard this before, but you REALLY need a scanmaster or similar. Tuning without one is guesswork. At the very least, an A/F gauge would help determine if the knock is from being lean or rich.
