My plastic cable broke again. Ive always kept the mast lubbed and this will be the 4th one ive had to install over the course of owning the car for 16 years. Is their a permanent fix? Is their a better upgraded unit? Is the cable still available and if so what is the delco part number? Thanks guys.

Kirban has a repro kit for about $29.95 I don't know how good it is or if Delco is still available or better.
I unplugged mine so it won't break and since I don't listen to radio anyway.

I just replaced mine with a NOS GM kit I had - I wonder if you can use a steel cable of the same diameter? I am sure Grainger has lots of options, maybe even your local hardware store.

Wow! Thanks for the replies. I was kinda wondering if an old clutch cable might work. You guys on the board are great!
