What Addtional sensors and equipment will I need to fully utilize all the features that the new PowerLogger will have to offer? And will I need to have a scantool like Scanmaster as well for real time data without a laptop?
If so, is that the scantool of choice when using PowerLogger?

Also, how long will it be till its available? And whats the expected price?

Only thing additional you might want to buy is a Wideband O2 and EGT if so inclined...Rest you can tap off existing sensors in the car

I've seen the screenshots of Powerlogger, and it doesn't appear to be all that dissimiliar as compared to Direct Scan..

Is there no current way for me to be able to have real-time data in addtion to the ability to record a run at the track on a laptop? I really do not want to have to invest in another data logger unless I am able to have both functions.

Real time via the scan master and record via Power Logger. If you have a laptop mount then you can have the laptop there to view real time parameters.

Yeah, not wanting to spend $500 for two more scantools when I already have one now.. I could spend my money on other things.

I am not familiar with DS. Doesn't that record? Then all you would need would be scan master.

Power Logger does everything DS does and then some. Plus you do not have to use a DOS. I had DS and now the Power Logger. The PL is way better IMO.

For 1 you do not have to run a DOS based OS. Then you can add boost, EGT, wideband, maybe some more. I do not miss my DS at all. It worked but the DOS was a PITA if you have a new laptop. In my opinion there is no other scan tool to get. I would never go back to a DS or Turbo Link. Even if they were free.

What other sensors/connectors etc. will I need to utilize all the functions to make it worth it for me? Can I still adjust the car's timing and fuel with a TT chip through PL? I currently have an adj. wastegate to adj. boost, and do not have a wideband O2 or an EGT guage.

the sky is the limit! I just have the basic with boost sensing

you do not need anything to go with it if you do not want to. You can do the TT adjustments with it.

What mods are needed to make the ECM accept PL? I heard you need to modify the case, also, what you think I can get for Direct Scan, the laptop and everything?

It connects the same way as DS but a better connection. Get it. You won't be sorry. I have used all the Scan tools and this one is the best.

You might want to keep your lap-top cause you will need it with the power logger too.

PS: Having a scanmaster hooked up to your powerlogger is a great plus when your not using the lap-top. You can view certian things on the scanmaster without having to look at your laptop only..
