Turn the key and the light stays on, motor never stops, fluid level is high and never goes down. Followed the gnttype.org daig. and it says to replace pump. Accum. ball is about 1.5 yrs old. Does this sound correct? Did this all of a sudden. The other night the light did stay on about 15 sec. after starting. 109K on the clock, I guess its my turn. Looks like Autozone has the entire A-1 unit for 143.99 exch. :-)

TIA

Sounds like you have a leak in an internal seal somewhere which is not allowing the enough pressure to build up to stop the pump from running. I had the same problem and eventually burnt the power master motor up.

How about the pressure switch? Would a bad pressure switch cause the pump to run continuously? Maybe someone can chime in on the subject.

Thanks for the idea Brian, I think if the switch was at fault it would still be able to pull fluid from the res. and build pressure in the accum. and if it never shut off would eventually pop the fuse. I let it run for 3 min and it never pulled any fluid and never even got warm so its not even trying. I just got back from ordering a complete unit, accum, switch, cyl and all for 143.99 at autozone, lifetime warr. I don't think we can currently even buy a switch for that litte.
Thanks

A while back I had a pressure switch fail and the unit would never shut off. The motor would labor and barely spin, I only noticed because the instrument lights were flickering a little. The motor was as hot as could be.

I had a extra switch so it was a easy fix, but If I needed a new unit Autozone would be the place I'd go.

Sounds like the check valve to me, i.e., the pressure isn't being maintained because its not seating properly, thus, the motor keeps running.
