anyone ever run a powertrax locker, any problems or dislikes about it, I'm not sure what I want to run yet.

I had a Powertrax Lock-Right in the back of one of my Jeeps, and it worked great. Was easy to install without removing anything from the diff. If you want to put massive power to the ground though, I'd get a full Detroit Locker. They're not cheap, and you have to remove the guts to mount it to the ring gear, but they're almost bulletproof (At least in the off-road world).

I have Powertrax and like it. I really wanted something I could install myself and I did! Big bang for the buck...the rock clumbing guys use it so it must be tough.

I am on my second one. If you have wheel hop issues you'll kill it. I had to spend a bit on trailing arms, springs, shocks, and a big stabilizer bar to plant the rear end better. These units have preload springs and they don't engage and disengage quickly enough to avoid chewing off teeth during wheelhop. If your car will plant and go, they're a good unit.

I have wheel hop when I try to do a dry burnout...understand that is NOT a good idea. So, burnouts in future will be with water. I understand that tire hop will kill most any limited slip device. If this fails, will do with the gear-type posi.

how long of life did you get out of your first one.
are you runing bigger tires and how may mods on yor car
did boxed control arms take caer of most of your wheel hop

I'm running GTA 16" diameter wheels with 245-45-16 Nitto Drag Radials. Metco billet lower arm, Hotchkis adjustable upper arm, METCO BIG sway bar, air bags on both sides, 62 turbo, 3" dual ATR cat-back exhaust, 3" ATR Downpipe w/ext wastegate, KB 70mm TB and Plenum, 4" cold air, FAST computer, 72#/hr injectors, CAS V-1 FMIC, aluminum driveshaft, CAS Aluminum street radiator, GNX rear brace, front crossmember brace (lower). Following are still stock...heads, headers, cam, lifters, rocker arms, etc. Heads never off block.

I got out of throttle as soon as the tires started jumping around. It shakes the car violently.

I had my first one in my 77 Caprice with a mild Buick 455. That car never wheel hopped. When I got rid of that car I kept the unit and put it in my GN which was bone stock when I got it.

I have one no problems at all and it's been on the car over 3 years maybe 4. no wheel hop with my car.
