Anyone out there can give me their 2 cents worth
This is a follow up of my previous post: Do Not Start

The vacum on the vacum gauge used to read 12 Lbs at idle and now it does not have hardly any vacum at all. I just also put a new Conley's Fuel Pressure Regulator and I think that it does not work, I tried to open it by turning it counter clockwise or clockwise and the fuel pressure gauge stays the same at 29 psi line of or on. As I give it gas it has a bad miss as if one of the spark plug wires was off and you can sure hear it poping from the K&N filter, the motor shakes all over and the idle does not want to stay on it appears as if it wants to stall.

THANKS

if you are tuning your fuel press reg in and out and it will not go over or under 29lbs then you have a bad reg or something. Make sure that the gauge is right first. Ohm out your wires to make sure there ok , maybe a bad wire. Also check the injectors, check the plugs that go to them to make sure there on good , if they are not on good this will cause a bad mis and a wet cyl. Start pulling plugs to see if any are wet.

just giving some ideas for yea.

Thanks for answering

I think so but why the missing and backfiring I attempted to check all the hoses and their connections and they seemed ok, would not know until the mechanic gets here and check them, but the miss is like if it is working with 5 cilinders.

THANKS:cool:

i forgot , look real good for a vac leak like was said , start spraying for it and look every where , bend lines some to see if they are cracked.

yea check the injector plugs real good , they might look like they are on but might not be. Is your car intercooled, if so intercooler pipe loose will do this. check that fuel press gauge out if your staying at 29lbs with the vac line off you are way to lean and could be very bad knock , this would cause a back fire in the intake. Make sure that reg is working ok and write us back.

where are you checking for vacuum? Try at different points to see if you get different readings, if you do, then you know you have a big leak somewhere...if not, possibles are jumped cam timing, or maybe an intake valve isn't closing for whatever reason, wiped cam lobe...compression check would be a good idea too!

What type of readings do you mean, how do I do the readings and what tool can I use to do the readings, because I would love to solve this dilema. I will get a Started Fluid and spray it on the hoses when the engine is on, is this the way to do it to find a leak, and what will the engine do if there is a leak, will the idle go up or will it stay the same. You could really hear the pop on the K&N filter as it comes from the throttle body. I think since the cam sensor cap was replaced it probably moved the timing.

THANKS

Ign timing is controlled by the chip...The only thing the cam sensor does is tell the ecm when to pulse the #6 inj when the #1 cyl is at 25 deg ATDC...If all you did was replace the cap and didn't move the sensor any, then nothing should have changed...
