Hey Guys,

Can someone help me on this issue? I have a new computer for my 87 new calpak, new 93 octane chip. Cleaned the IAC Valve and O2 Sensor, and cleaned my air filter. Car runs a idle between 1500 and 1800 RPM I have turned the idle air screw all the way off and moved the TPS sensor around and still high rpms? Disconnected the Mass Air Flow sensor and started the car right up rev it up and it pukes out but even with the mass air flow plugged in still pukes out like it is either not getting enough fuel or too much air? But has a very rich smell to it? New fuel filter and fuel regulator (stock regulator). How do I check to see if the Mass Air Flow Sensor is operating correctly? Basically been trying to figure this out for months and am getting pretty tired of spending money on parts that don't fix the problem? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks again jretrodude :)

By the way the car only goes down the road at idle no power what so ever when you give it gas? Sounds like it blows up and pukes out when you give her any kind of gas at all?

How did you clean the O2 sensor? If they go bad they can only be replaced.

Do you get any codes wheen running the ECM test?

Is your EGR valve stuck slightly open?

with your car idleing tap on your maf sensor with a screwdriver and see if your idles changes sounds like your maf is bad

With the car running just as crappy with or without the MAF, that's a pretty definative sign of the problem.

Tested everything manually?

Hey guys,

Thanks for the responses, may have figured out the problem? Checked every sensor under the hood with an accutron sensor tester works great every sensor is good, except for the O2 it was a little weak replaced that tonight. I think the problem is in the EGR valve and the EGR vacuum block the black box with the two rubber hoses? Going to replace those two items and see what happens? Those are the only things I haven't replaced or tested yet because the accutron sensor scanner doesn't scan those the EGR valve is losing vacuum hooked a pumper thingy to it and does not hold pressure also the black vaccum box thing isn't blowing or sucking any air through it which would cause it to idle high, miss, ping, etc. I know it's not an internal problem because there is no clanking or smoke blowing out the back. Still confused but hopefully will figure it out by Thursday. Thanks guys for all your ideas and support we are all like family when it comes to our toys.

You have a scantool? The stock tach is pretty useless, but if you have a scanmaster, you can narrow the problem down a lot faster. And you know that the idle is set by the chip, not be adjusting the idle air screw, don't you?
