Problem

well just got my regal goin as some of you know. I put a new engine and trans in, but there is some stuff that i dont remeber where it goes. anyways on the passenger side valve cover there is a black thing with a red connector, and there is a vaccum line? running to the turbo and goes to the Y fitting. and then there suppose to be another vaccum line going somewhere but i dont know where. if anybody could help me wtih pics that would be nice, and describing to where it goes and what it does. thanks

the black thing with the red connector is the boost solenoid i beleive, but i think my connector is black. the vacuum line with the tee runs to the wastegate actuator and the turbine side of the turbo kinda underneath if i remember right but one of those vac line deffinitly goes the the waste gate actuator near the compressor wheel.

the port on the boost solenoid thats closest to the intake should only have a little spnge like filter on it not a vac line

thats what i thought, i remebered that when i took out my old engine, but can you tell me why there is only a filter going to that?

Hi,
That port vents boost to the outside air.Basically, the solenoid is at minimum light duty cycle until the ecm decides boost control is needed, then it is modulated to fit the need. By the way, don't mix up the hoses between the wastegate actuator and turbo outlet, low boost results. Also, don't put a standard y fitting in there, as the stock one has an orifice in it,and that also results in low boost.Good luck with your fresh engine!

thanks, ya i am gettin low boost right now, im new to these engines so i am having a hard time finding out what is going on. The car righ tnow is running decent but i know its not at its full potential. if there is anyone around in the flint area that could help me i would really aprreciate it.
