I would like to see all proven 10 sec. combos you guys have. I'm not interested in the "it should go 10's" ones. I want the combos that have run tens or the equivilent mph. (Red)
I would like to know what chip you have, fuel pressure, boost what you tune with and any trade secrets you may have. I would like someone to describe everything they go through. I am planning on going to the track pretty soon and I want to see if I have all my ducks in a row.
I would also like to know how you launch your car. What boost are you leaving at.

You can see my curent setup below.

I went 6.97 in the 1/8th and 10.95@121 with Red Armstrong's 107 chip, TE-64, Single XP Plus, 55's. Set up was 50 # Fuel pressure at idle w/ vacumn off, 26 PSI boost.

With the current setup I will have 1/4 time next Sun but went 6.87@99.4 in the 1/8 last weekend. It was at 43 PSi fuel and 22-3 psi boost. This is with a bin I got from Jay Carter that I have tweaked the fuel curve on to match my setup.

Sully, I would think the MPH is a little low. What do you think about the Red's 106 chip?

It's all in the signature. Along with a 12 psi launch. At the limit of the turbo and fuel system.

I was running out of fuel at the top end with the single pump and the high boost.. the new 1/8th is 2.5 mph faster than my old one so I expect to be in the 123-125 range in the 1/4 now. Will find out on Sun.

I could never get the car to run as fast with 106 as I could with the higher timing in the 107 but I know a lot of people like it.

I good friemd pf mine went 10.4 @ 128 with w slipping tranny.

1. Champion Iron Heads
2. PTE TE-63
3. PTE 218 Cam
4. Dequick front mont
5. Fast
6. 55 lbs injectors
7. Double Pumper

About 26 * and 24psi

dunno where you are or what your car weighs, but those two factors have as much to do with how you run as anything else...

your combo s/b good for 10's no sweat

launch it hard ( I usually leave at 15+ lbs of boost)

if you weigh less than me (3712) and run in cool sea level air, it should be easy

(I do not like Red's chips......way too rich down low unless custom burned)...recommend MaxEffort

I run low boost...23-4 lbs on my car with the 55's.....they are done at 125 mph (or the single pump is done....)

Thanks for all the replies!
Sully, I figured you were running out of fuel or something. I really don't care for the 106. It dosen't seem as if the 106 is right for my car. It has a bad off idle stumble with the 106. I have a 93 from Red that runs fine. BTW, let us know what it runs next Sun.
azgn, I am actually below sea level. The car weighs 3610 with me in it. I also have Red's double pumper that I forgot to put in the sig.
John, If I could get my car to run like your friends I would be more than happy.

see my sig

this was with 22#s of boost w/ 20degrees timing

I think a PT88, some 160lb injectors, and some GN1Rs would be a proven 10 sec combo :D  :D

Seriously

I am going to be running a stock, girdled block, ported and polished heads and matching intake, 224/224 cam, 75lb inj., 70 mm TB, FMIC, 3 bolt PT70, 3.5 THDP, some other goodies, and all the frame mods and traction required, and I know I will be running some solid 10 sec times. If you want 10s, build a car that could run mid 10s on absolute kill, so you will still have some reliability and the ability to always go faster. Trust me, I have made this mistade twice now.

10.80 @ 120 1.45 60ft slipping converter
10.81 @ 127 1.63 60ft TH400 new PTS conv.
Should go 10.50s-40s with out too much more work.

You can see my 10 sec #s below. Basic package: PTE 64E, Champ. Iron, 20 Over JE pistons, steel middle caps, Weber 206/206 hyd roller, Reds DP, CAS VII, KB 70m TB, STK. Headers,Vig NL 3200 stall, 72(s) inj, with chip by Brutal Six Racing, Hooker Exhaust 2.5 cat back, ATR rear sway bar, boxed lower control arms, Mosher axles,Tranny parts by Bruce, lots of rear brake work.

The final touch I needed was fuel, don't go short on fuel with today's chips, if you want to run in the tens(safely)nothing less then 72(s). And you have to have a hard launch!! Unless you have mucho HP.

Good Luck

Thanks for all the replies! To me it looks like I should have an easy 10second car. I'll keep everyone posted when I get back from the track.

Turbo6,
You have 10 sec parts. But now its all about bringing it together. Now you have to make it run right. Ive had my combo for about 1.5 yrs and couldnt get out of my own way. But tuning , traction and for me converter! brought it all together. i only mention this cause although i had 10 sec parts......they sure didnt come easy!;)

Good Luck

It's good that you brought this up and explained it to Turbo 6.

Their are sooo many people on here with enough to go 10's but are only in the high 11's or 12's and can only ask themselves "why".

It's all about lisening to those who have done it before you. Their experience will be a big help to you.

I agree! I believe in experience. If you've done it, then I want to talk to you. If someone is there to help you it's in YOUR best interest to listen.
I don't think I'll have too much trouble getting the car in the tens, I mean my previous combo went 11.44@119 with a pt 51, stock heads and cam. But then again I've never gone tens, yet. We'll see. Thanks Again

Turbo 6

You said your old combo with the 51 turbo went 11.44 @ 119. What else went with this combo? I see you had stock heads and cam. what chip did you use? F.P.? Boost level? etc???? I also have a PT51 and I can't see to "get it together" I know my car should go in the 11's but I'm having trouble.

guess i'll get my sig in here :D

I need to update it ...last 2 trips to the track its run 10.90's at 126 range

that was on 23# boost and 25 degree timing

still having fuel problem holding me back.. cant get it to stop leaning out..:(

picked up 1/8 mph but yet still same in 1/4

running 102.5 in the 1/8 which should put it in the 128-9 1/4 mph
