PS valve cover

I'm in the process of removing my PS valve cover. It looks like I will have to remove the heat shield. My question is can I leave the heat shield off and get an aftermarket heat shield for the downpipe so I won't have to keep taking the stock shield off and on?

You don't have to pull the heat sheild - the valve cover will wiggle out. It is easier to do if the heat sheild isn't there. You can remove it and leave it off...(a bear to remove!)
It also helps if you undo the wiring harness retainers.
