pt52 big shaft

What is the difference between a pt52 and pt52 big shaft? Are there disadvantages, such as increased lag, more $$$, etc...? In turn, what are the advantages? TIA

i think the big shaft is designed for better durability and yes i think there may be more lag since there is more rotational weight. But all the durability means squat to compressor surge.
