what do you guys think of the pt52? im selling my te44 (only 2000 miles on it) and want a bigger turbo. im also getting 50 lb injectors, torque conv. a front mount ic and heads.

The PT52 seems to have the same exhaust wheel failures as the PT51 so I would get a TE61 from John Craig @ Limit Engineering cause the TE61 will work great with the 50lb injectors and a 9" 3000-3200 stall converter.
HTH :)

I haven't heard anything bad about the 51/52 turbos

How fast do you wanna go?

That's because they have the same GT-350 exhaust wheels. ;)

Must be the same wheel cause both the 51 and 52 turbos seem to be coming apart on a good amount of TRs.... The real question like rastaz mentioned is how fast do you wanna go cause the 44 turbo will easily take you to mid 11's especially with some ported heads.

My PT52 spit the turbine wheel out of the housing into my downpipe. It had around 2000 miles on it in 8 months.Just my experience.

All you PTE turbo buyers

Just curious what made you purchase a PTE unit in the first place? I have never tried an Innovative but will stick to a Craig or Turbonetics unit from now on, never a failure! Is it the pricing? Is it the claims? Or is it advertising? Surely it can't be the customer feedback:D

yea my problem seemed to be my motor messing up the turbo's i had come apart..well it went 90 miles up the highway today to the track and 90 miles back with no turbo failures and maxed my 50# injectors with 127 mph trap speed at 26 # boost..;)

too bad its still the same motor that was spitting parts out of it..sure does run good..:D

Congrats Red! How do you know the 50's are maxed? From what I remember you don't use a scantool and have a single pump. I have always thought and told people that 50's are good for a 10.9 and speeds around what you got and that is it. It changes a little if you have a double pumper!

Don't want to turn this into another 51 thread but I was thinking of selling my 51 (which I guess has little value now) that I have had for 3 years. It runs like a champ but I want to pick it up a little. I have 50s going in as well and was thinking about the 61 since Jesse speaks so highly of it. My combo is below. How has the 61 been with your combo Jesse?

Bob

Instead of turning one of these turbos into a paperweight, can't they be upgraded? I thought I read that recently....The center section can't be to blame, can it?

I am still waiting for my motor to come back from the machine shop so I can put it together again:D I think the 61 with the 50's and 3200 will be a great match! Should be a little better spool than the 63 I had and still 10 second capable. All I will ever need!

well the 50's are done at 600 hp and take the 3700# race weight of my car and me and figure in 127 mph...bingo 100 % duty cycle.

yea they will go in the 10's..on a good launch that would have been 10.60's at that mph but i choose to drive it home

i was scanning the car with a scanner and with the fuel cranked up hard it was still going below 700 mv 02's and i installed a new 02 before the runs..it was in the 600's all thru high gear..

oh yea you dont wanna see how white my plugs got..:)

time to put it in the other regal body with a cage in it ... the guys at the ticket booth let me run the second pass since it was the end of the night but they gave hint that it was a lil too fast..

Maybe the 51/52s don't have the Engine Parts Recycling feature where engine parts are automatically re-installed in their proper location real-time by little green men?

Starting to worry about my 51....500 miles on it thus far.

Jim

anyone really want one i know of a guy with a pt-51 that hasent been run since rebuilt by pte of course it failed once but suppose to be like new now...im sure he'd be glad to sell it if someone wants to buy one.

I have a PTE52 on my car and I am very happy with it. No problems thus far. I have ran it up to 24-25 psi and run multiple mid-low 11's with it with no adverse problems. If you are worried about it then get a PTE54 instead.

I still have not seen anyone answer my question in a different thread about whether or not the 51/52 are actually the same exhaust wheel or not. I am well aware that they are both called GT350 wheels, but my understanding is that they are not the exact same wheel (as in not interchangeable wheels)

I am tyrying for LOW 11's but would love to run in the tens on a cool day with the wind at my back and a perfect launch!. i would be VERY happy with a 10.99.

i just reread your first post donot sell your te44 to get a 52 that would be a stupid move..

the 44 is a much better turbo..if you want low 11's you already have a turbo that will go there

if you want a turbo that will do it alot easier then step up in the 60's and possibly a 54 anything smaller wouldnt make any sense cause there wont reall be a difference except reliability.
