IMO, on my friend's 87 the PTE54 was very laggy with his 3,000 stall convertor. I like the TE62 from Limit Engineering much better. If flows about the same or more and spools much better (it would probably work with a 2,800 stall) and then there's always the PTE reliability issues. Hell, my 64 spools better than the 54.
