Steve I am not sure if I am going to finish building the stage 2 or go with a SBC. I had a line on a LS6 Core but after talking to a couple people it would not hold together well after 1000HP.
The Iron Block is better but with the amount of money you would spend getting it to live you are better off with a GEN 1 SBC like a bowtie or dart little M. I spoke to Duttweiler's today and for the first time they do not have a Buick V-6 project in the works.
For a full race car it sure sounds like the writing is on the wall.
I still may go with the v-6 but if I do I will go with twins in the 66mm to 76mm range. Precision seems to like twin 67GTQs on the v-6 stuff and GT-47 88MM on the single sixes.
The six is a problem because it will take longer to piece together and cost more than the v8. It will be less reliable and make less power. I do have the following parts though:
-4.1 Stage 2 Block
-Complete Stage 2 Aluminum Heads
-Converted Busch Intake and PT Elbow/ 90MM TB
-Fast for V6
-Precision Twin Core Front mount
-Weldon 2035
-400 with converter
-Wolfe Suspension
-Innovative Indy Gate
This is what I will need
- Crank $1500 to $2300
- Rods $1000
- Balancer and Flywheel $500
- Pistons $600
- Duttweiler oiling and pan $750
- Headers $1200 it ATR much more if custom
- Twin turbos non BB $2500
-160 injectors and Weldon Regulator $600
-Misc Crap $1500
- Machine and assmbly work $2000
We are talking $12,000 low ball.
I want my TSM Motor back!
