PTS Sheetmetal Pans

Looking to see if anyone or Bruce has ever had one of these pans short out the TCC solenoid? In the past Ive seen this on the Cast Art Carr pans and wanted to know if it's happened with this pan too.

Yup I shorted mine out.

Of course I crushed the wire with the copper bottom feeder tube.

No charge from my mechanic since he put the pan in on the lift.

I was "helping" so it's my fault.

If you run the wires safely and look over the installation it shouldn't and won't happen.

Just have to route them properly.....

It's a nice pan.

Our ALUMINUM pans have not had any problems at all with shorting out the TCC. As in anything, you must pay careful attention when routing near any electrical on a car. A little foresight and planning will work wonders in minimizing problems of this sort. Mark

Neither is putting on a set of spark plug wires or picking out rims for the car or installing a stereo....

I think some foresight and planning may have removed the interference with the torque converter shield.

That part isn't in the instructions either.

What torque convertor shield? You still wear one of those?

You drive your car in the winter?

Then you need the shield.

Got the same answer from the Californians on that question too.

If it didn't fit I would have modified it BEFORE I put the whole thing together and got the leak. Not after.

Should have been a footnote anyway on that nice stationary.

The shield and a maxipad stop the rear main drips from hitting the ground too.

Hummmm, a first for any negative feedback concerning the pan install. I will inform Bruce of this thread and see if he has any recommendations. Mark

Don't bother I talked to Bruce and he said some interfere and most don't run the shield.

Not really the answer I was looking for.

Might want to put a footnote in the instructions to trim it or remove it BEFORE you install it and it doesn't fit right without trimming it and causes a dripping leak.

I am sure others have had the same problem but either knew about the fix or left the shield off.

No biggy it's fixed.

Prolly get another one someday for the other car.
