I took the GN out and wanted to make a pass or two just to check out the new transmission.... Well First run at 20 psi had about 4 degrees retard and
O2 about 770 so I increased fuel 5% on the chip and made another pass.

I about died when I looked at the turbo link screen ! 22 degrees peak retard at the end of the run .... I was looking at the road and the boost gauge and missed it.... man I hope I did not hurt it... It ran ok on the way home and seemed ok but I figured out the Alcohol system failed.

I get home and pull the pump out and one of the wires looks like it may have broke off the lug on the pump. The pump look rough and although it ran out of the tank I would like to replace it.. Well Id really like a new Razor system but 600 bucks is 600 bucks.... I don't need to spend....

The pump is a Carter the numbers stamped on it are 4EI4C as best I can tell...
I'll take it to the autoparts store and see if they can match it up but thought I ask here too.... Crap that was a bad feeling..... I need to get something up higher ot something to alert me of this sort of crap... other then running slower then I expected there was no warning popping ping nothing....

Yeah its an old SMC intank pump..... dinosaur....

Ah that's rough, I'm surprised the headgaskets didn't blow for sure.

Generally you want to swap out the Alky pump every 2 years if you're on Meth, I literally did it this Month due to it getting really weak.

The nice thing about the Alkycontrol kit is that you'll get used to how quickly the car boggs from priming it with the test button. Mine was taking literally 8-10 seconds and I knew it was time.

That in-tank system is now 6+ years old. On a design prone to issues because the pumps sits wetted by alcohol. This is why that company went to external pumps. This is why we do external pumps.

Good luck finding a pump that lives dunked in methanol/alcohol. Its like acid.

GNVYUS 1, 2-3 seasons is a good rule of thumb. Like Walbro fuel pumps as well.. 2-3 seasons. And only need to rebuild them not replace on the newer stuff as motors are protected.. now..

How about Denatured ? That is all I have ran in the thing.

Can I use my existing reservior with a new system and save some money btw ??

Alcohol is alcohol. That is why the pump looks all rusty from sitting in the alcohol.

I only use brand new reservoirs as a custom fitting needs to be installed on the nipple. Plus dont want to deal with cleaning a tank for an hour.

If you have a brand new tank, we can discuss some savings.. off forum.

Good luck,

fwiw a pump for a 1989 plymonth acclaim 2.5 turbo fits and works.

Got it all back together with new Hot wire on fuel pump and the RTD was 0 at 19 psi and it seems to be ok....I am still scared its going to come apart though it detonated the several seconds bad... Other then that one time its never been run hard or into any seriuous detonation so maybe I got away with it once... The plugs looked ok nothing melted and I changed them to cooler ac42's it seemed to idle a little rougher though esp when the engine is cold. Radiator loosk bright green and clear, oil is clear and there is no smoke or od smells, No oil blowing out anywhere or detectable blowby from the valve cover breather....
I'm going to set a new jar a side to save for a new progressive system anyway but the old one is back in operation. I was told to put a little caster oil in the alcohol to help lube the pump... can't hurt so I did...
