Took the GN out to race last night.Filled up on 93 at the corner 7-11 by my house.Drove out to Redline Raceway(on slicks) which is about 45 miles from my house.Thought I would see what the 4.1 I put together could do on pump gas and here it is :

7.17 @ 97 1.65 60'
7.18 @ 97 1.66 60'
7.23 @ 97.53 1.72 60'
7.25 @ 97.42 1.73 60'
7.24 @ 97.66 1.72 60'

Then I aired up the slicks and drove home.
Not bad for a budget built shortblock IMO.The best the 3.8 did was in the 7.5s in the 1/8.

Nice.

But you say the 3.8 could only do 7.5, yet your signature says you "old motor" went 7.0. Was the old motor a 4.1 too?

I meant the old motor could only run 7.5s on pump gas.The time in the sig is race trim.

Sam, I think he means on pump gas the old motor (3.8) could only do 7.5 (which would lead me to believe that it ran 7.0 on race gas).... Just how I understood it....

Those are some nice times on pump gas! Must be those extra cubes:cool:

Yeah I think it is the extra cubes. The 63 spools way faster than it did with the 3.8.I don't have to start spooling on the pre stage beam now.I can just get both lights lit and step on it.I am surprised at how cool it runs with the overbore, being as it has siamese walls. It never got over 190*.

Nice times! Just out of curiousity what'd you use for pistons? From what I'd seen before, pistons alone for a 4.1 usually cost over $600.

Tom

I bought some used JE pistons frm Jesse Adkins AKA Intercooler. He sold them to me for $150.
