I'll check the casting #'s and the reason I'm swapping is my transmission lost 2nd gear and I made my pump a non lock up for my stall convertor. The caddy transmission had a D5. Should I just go with that?

Sorry I didn't see this post before I repied to pump casting #'s. Before you swap trannies, do you know what code the '87 is?, what tye of car is it going in and what type of driving do plan on doing? If the D5 is a known good one you can use it. Loseing 2nd is probably just a band and if so is an easy fix. I guess what I'm getting at is depending on what kind of '87 trannie you have and what you plan doing with the car you might not want to go with the caddy one. See if you can get the codes off both of them.
If they are both a true GN and Caddy trans, and you plan on getting the GN redone anyway, I'd just put the caddy one in as is. I doubt your gonna be very happy with it no matter what you do short of major mods.
