I love this filter and never had problems with them, I have my bypass blocked. I was introduced to this filter from one of Red Regal's old posts (Thanks). Problem is that is seems it is getting harder to fine in pepboys. When I do fine them there is only one on the shelf?? whats goijng on here??

thanks
Ralph

You could consider using the Baldwin B9 instead. Same super-large size, and the Baldwin is of heavier construction.
Usually you have to go to truck part & service distributors to get Baldwin, you won't find it in Pep Boys or the other chains.

Tom, I neevr tried a Baldwin filter. TI had luck with Amzoil and Purolators. I never tried a Baldwin becuase it is a pain in the a$$ to get local.

Thanks
Ralph

I tried 3 baldwins and NONE of em held oil presure at all after shut down. Bad anti drain back valves..

I'm quite surprised ... I've been using baldwins on all my vehicles for a couple years now. All the antidrainback valves have been very tight, cannot blow thru them at all. Oil pressure comes right up.

Hey Ralph, I use the L30001. Now I remember a thread and I put the 30005 by mistake. I have some kind of brain fart on those two numbers. I just had to walk out to my garage to make sure I use the 30001. :D You mean the 30005 works too? :o

I may not have been paying close attention either:

Baldwin B35S for stock style Delco PF52 "long" filter replacement.

Baldwin B9 for use with "Biggie" oil filter adapter, the B9 is approx 20% longer than the fat Delco PF24 often used with the Biggie.

Both of these have an anti-drainback valve (not all models do), I'm still perplexed by Frank's experiences with Baldwins.

yea me too. I went thru hell to find em locally too. I would not do it again..

Red, the L30005 makes the 30001 look small. It is longer. I bought a 30001 yesterday as in emergency and blew that puppy apart. I love the 30005. never ever had a problem, even with 20w50. I am going to look online and buy a bnunch of them. I always ehard Baldwin amde one fo the best filters, just never got my hand on one. Red in the post you stated that the 30005 was longer and the threads were a little diff but worked, I remmeber.

Thanks
Ralph

That's funny. I remember that post because I made the mistake of suggesting the 30005 when I meant the 30001. Anyway, I can't imagine the 30005 being larger. I'll have to take a look. By the way guys, the 30001 filter is an SAE thread filter, not metric. So It's not correct for the TR, but it is a large filter, and it does work. ;)

sheesh, maybe I misread it and bought a 30005 by accident?? Well if thats the story it worked out great!

That is very strange!! I've tried about every filter there is to try, and the baldwins I use are the ONLY ones that I have had complete success with the anit drainback valve holding!
