ok I know that in gnttype they have an area dedicated to setting up switches and stuff and one is for a fan
my questions are, I know you want it on in the staging lane but if I was making a 1/4 mile pass wouldnt it benefit more for me to keep the fan on the whole run? this way its pulling in more air as I go down the track

my other question is this
I dont have the fan switch hooked up yet
however if I am driving my car around and I stop somewhere to get out and go eat or whatever reason for me to turn the car off and leave, if its hot enough out the car turns the fan on by itself when I leave it and it stays on for about 10 minutes and then turns off on its own

is this normal?

thanks

Carl

leave the fan off during the run. More voltage will be available to go to the injectors and pump

Yeah, that's normal, especially if the A/C on. Do you have a 160* therostat?

>>car turns the fan on

ok I have a thermostat but havent installed it yet

and I dont use the AC

just so I am not assuming this here

you are saying that it is normal for the car to turn the fan on by itself
when the car is not running?
like there are no keys in the ignition
nothing is on
it would be parked and I go inside but the fan would turn on byitself when its just parked somewhere with nothing on?

thanks

Carl

You may be running a little hot. This is they way I understand, hopefully I am right. The fan has 2 speeds:

Low Speed - on where chip is set (stock is I think 195??), my RA chip turns it on at 172, off at ~165.

High speed - on when hot ~205-210 (??) and this will trigger the delay-off you are experiencing.
High speed also on when AC is on. My car has never run on the delay-off prolly because I always have the AC on here in FL, so it never gets that hot, but my delay relay may be bad also.

High speed also can be turned on with the switch.

What I am trying to say is you may want to monitor your temps since it gets the delay on a regular basis, a scan tool can do this.

It is normal (if the car is hot enough) for the fan to come on with everything shutoff. This is done by the fan delay relay and comes from the factory that way. Be glad yours is working because there are many cars where the delay relay box (located on driver side inner fender) does not work.

Once you change the thermostat you will see it come on a lot less often. Mine only does it when it's REALLY hot
