I have been around Grand Nationals for 13 years and have owned a couple of hotair Ttypes. So this is my first 87 GN and its all stock.

My question is, what size is the stock turbo and what would be a good upgrade? I am willing to get bigger injectors and I have ordered a Walboro 340 pump which should suffice for a larger turbo.

Just wondering what anyones recommendation would be.

T304B rings a bell but I could be wrong. As for upgrading most will probably tell you to maximize what you have first. HTH.

So how would I go about maximizing what I have first?

How is this?

1. Walboro 340 fuel pump with hotwire kit

2. Tranny cooler

3. Scan master

4. Gauges (boost, oil, water, knock)

5. Adjustable FPR and gauge

6. Shift kit

Anything else I should add to that list? I am also thinking about doing alky injection.

you have 455 posts and you don't know that a TA49 or TE44 is the next step up in Turbos.....

Injectors and a chip to match it.

Exhaust

KN

160 state

Go to GNTTYPE.org and see recipes

Nope, unfortunately I didnt. I have only done work on hotair cars and havent done much of anything with intercooled cars. I am doing all my own work on my GN and am learning as I go.

I know a lot about the car but never remembered the stock turbo size and have never inquired what the next step up turbo would be. I have looked at the recipes and will be following some of them. I havent looked at them in a while and was just asking a simple question.

do the basics , do the spring clean , make sure all is working and maybe add to your list a big neck (duttweiler neck) and a 3in th style downpipe , hooker duals or stainless atr if budget is there, then get the alky kit and enjoy it as youll be in the 12s with little trouble

, then if thats not enough do some upgrading on the turbo , injectors, and torque converter but then youll need to address tires as traction will be hard on the street
if going to the track and putting down low numbers is your thing look into rear suspension for improving 60ft and beefing up the trans

Thank you for that answer. I am not looking to put down low numbers, maybe low 11's and thats it. I am hoping to get it there by summer 2007 since I will be painting my car this summer. That will take up the budget for the exhaust. I may still get a better downpipe.
