My NEW 9 in cpt would not even slide into the crank when i bolted it up to the flywheel,,when i removed trans i found that the NEW torque convertor had so much paint on it that it could not slide into the hole in the crank,,,IS THIS NORMAL

You always remove the paint around the outer edge of the pilot of a converter before installing. Also, put a little grease in the pilot hole in the crankshaft.

This is because the machined fit of the pilot is so precise. This is common on a high quality converter that has been painted over the pilot.
