So far I've run Xylene in my tank twice, and twice I've had to replace the O2 sensor the next day. Has anyone else had this problem? The first time I poured 5 gallons of Xylene which made my needle read full. Last night I only used 3 gallons and my needle read 17 gallons. I don't think I'm using too high a ratio so what could keep causing my O2 sensor to fail? It always pulls code 44 (lean) and my O2 readings stay way down in the less than 100 range when idling.

Interesting. Xylene can be mixed 3 parts gasoline to 1 part Xylene. Add about 4oz of lubricant like Marvel Mystry Oil each time.

I have done this a couple of times and have not had any issues.

Ive been using xylene for about a week now nothing bad to report with it .Ive an about 12 gallons of it I mix one gallon of xylene to 3 gallons of 91 octain.Im not getting any knock at 17 psi im going to try 20 tonight to see if it will knock.

Where do you buy xylene? I've read a lot about it here, but I'm not even sure about where to buy it. Thanks,

James

James,

Yeah Sherwin Williams is the place to get it. But in the long run you will be better off going with alcohol. That or put in some race gas, and your Gn will be a different animal:)

what kind of sensor...

I use the Bosch O2 sensor. My first time using Xylene, I got about 4 or 5 runs in and on the last run is when my check engine light came on, the car was almost cutting off due to a less than 100 O2 count, and finally my car blew some fusible links, ending my night. The second time, I just poured some in to see if it would happen again, and see how much boost I could get. The next morning I was getting low counts again, another check engine light, and car kept cutting off due to lack of fuel. Put a new sensor in and all the problems disappeared. I get my Xylene from my girlfriend. She works at an agri supply store. Xylene is cool in the fact that even after adding more gas to my already low tank of Xylene mix, I only got 0.2 degrees of knock at 62 mph after flooring it from about 20 mph. My boost gauge only reads 20 psi and the needle was pegged so I know it was at least 20 psi on my 20 degree timing MM street chip. BTW, this was without my power plate.

Well thats what I use too and never had any problems like that, but I hear guys talk bad about them all the time. One guy swore he got like 6 bad ones in a row right outta the box. If your getting them from autozone they should be under warranty for 90 days, go get another one for free or switch to delco. Good luck.

Are you mixing the xylene or just pouring it in the tank.Mix it 3:1 3 gallons of gas to one gallon of xylene with about a ounce of marvels mystry oil in it .

Ill have to say in my own experience no.Ive been running it for about two weeks mixing it 3:1 with nothing but good results.Im running about 22 lbs with no knock to me its great stuff .There is no lead in it to kill a 02 ...

regular pump gas is about 10% xylene, "real" race gas probably has more ...

ordinarily, modest amounts (up to 25-30% total xylene in the gas) shouldn't hurt anything ...

when adding xylene keep in mind that 10 gallon pump gas is "really" like 1 gal xylene + 9 gal "other" stuff.

Adding 2 gal xylene produces total 3 gal xylene + 9 gal "other" = 12 gal total, or about a 25% proportion of xylene.

Adding 3 gal xylene produces total 4 gal xylene + 9 gal "other" = 13 gal total, or about a 30% proportion of xylene. That's probably about as high as I'd want to go.

Use Delco O2s has been my experience. I've never had much luck with Bosch ones lasting very long even without xylene, never had them throw a code, but the cross-counts would get lazy after a while. Cross-counts should cycle from 0-255 in less than 90 seconds. Never had a problem with Delco's and have ran about 15 gallons of xylene without any problems.
