Hey guys,

Do I need to elminate the stock wastegate solenoid in order to turn my boost up? I have an adjustable wastegate and it doesn't seem to be making my boost go up. I don't know if this matters, but I have a Turbotweak chip and it's made for 11-15 PSI.

Thanks,

Rob

Does your waste gate actuator arm adjust? Shorten the arm and boost goes up. Brad

Yep, the arm does adjust. I was running about 8 PSI of boost, got it up to 10 psi, and can't get anymore out of it. I have zero knock as of right now.

Double check and make sure your wastegate lines are hooked up right. Also how is the angle of the wastegate arm? I know on my spearco setup it was exactly straight and caused problems. Still using the stock "Y" fitting? Is that installed correctly? You could run your wastegate tuner style which is just the line off the turbo to the wastegate itself or get a good manual boost controller which would just splice inbetween the turbo and the wastegate. With the manual one, you don't use the solenoid. Lots of options to control your boost.

The angle of the arm is pretty much how it was when it was stock. Yes, I'm still using the stock Y fitting. Am I not suppose to? I took it out tonight and got 12 psi with no knock. The car seems to get up and go alright but it doesn't compare to my 94 Z28.

You should keep the stock "Y" in place unless using some aftermarket boost controller. The "Y" has one orfice with blockage in it, it keeps more boost from getting to the wastegate. Just make sure the "Y" is installed right. The less boost that actually gets to the wastegate then the longer it takes the wastegate to open the puck. Thus you get more boost, so the "Y" is good to have. Sounds like you just need to shorten your wastegate arm some more. Shorten the wastegate arm so that you actually have to pull the rod out of the actuator to get it on the puck, with the puck completely shut. If you still have problems getting more boost then there is something else going on. -Nick.
