Racing a gt500 soon.

How do you think i will do. My younger brother just bought a gt500. Must be nice to be 25 with a 62k car. I know know, he could of got alot better car but hes always been a mustang fan and will never change. Any ways we are set to have a family race here soon. Wife will race him in the 06 GTO and ill try him in the buick. Well see what happens:biggrin:

The Goat should get spanked unless it has some mods. As for the GN...........I think we all know what will happen there. Put a special message on your back window for him, keep it short because he won't be seeing it for long.

Yeah, the GTO is lucky to be a low 13 second car with a good driver and good conditions. I should know I have one. Its a great car, but it's a heavy pig.

I knew the goat will lose. Its stock but my wife loves to race and my daily is all we got for her right now. It will be fun though

You've got plenty to take him, assuming you can get all that power to the ground and keep it there.

If hes totally stock, or even with minor mods, he cant 60ft with you, i can say i have a 03Cobra, and the 60ft is bad. Once you get out front he cant get back up there. Dont let him talk you into a topend race, because he can run a 100mph in 6th gear, and only be turnning 3000 rpm.

We just had one make 570 at the shop with very minor bolt ons. I have an upgraded heat exchanger coming for it that should put it over 600.

The downside to the GT500 is its pretty heavy. They're freakin beasts tho and make insane power. The potential dwarfs the 03-04 Cobras.

Maybe a stock 03-Cobra, but mine still out runs my GN.

Did your 03 Cobra make 570 horsepower with a pulley change, a throttle body, headers and a cold air kit?

Strap up an upgraded supercharger and they'll make around 700. I've never seen an 03 Cobra make 700 with an upgraded blower only. In fact, the only Cobras Ive seen come close to that were turbo.

Yeah were going to have some fun. Ive always liked the 03-04 cobras, but the gt500 is a beast. Theres one in the video section running 8s on stock block and internals i think. It has twin turbos but stock motor that sick.

A stock GT500 is a solid mid-12's car with your avarage driver. As JayC said with bolt ons they can get sick. I owned an '03 Cobra and it was a great car but the potential of the 5.4 is on another level. Whippled GT500's are low 10 high 9 second cars with not too much effort.

You will kill him out of the hole. I raced one from a light, I was behind him and nearly hit him in the back because I was pulling harder than him. Great car, but tough to launch on the street with out massive wheel spin.

I agree about the wheel spin. I ran one early last year at the track when I was running 11.80's and 1.60 sixty foots. I smoked him out the hole and he just sat there a spun to a 2.x sixty foot. He couldnt have even read anything I put on my back window.

With my new combo I would really hurt his feelings....
