On a day thats not too hot. It will run about 175 to 180. But if I get on it a few times I'm up to 200.
What radiators are easy to swap out? Any junk yard ones that fit good. Or do I just try to find an 87 rad?
Thanks

Radiator option

I went ahead and put in a g-body V8 radiator. Got it new from AutoZone, price was around $80. Had lifetime warranty and was a 3-core (got one from '86 .307 Regal).
If you are keeping your mechanical fan you will need to mod your fan shroud or get a different one (junkyard). I had converted to electric fan, so I used the metal top piece like the 87 TR's (also came on some V8 cars - junkyard).
The V8 rad is the same length as the 87 TR rad but without the built in oil-cooler, so it has more room for coolant (much better setup I think, and use an external oil cooler if you want one).

Be cool has a radiator more cores and twin fan set up for our cars. A little pricey maybe but my car runs consistantly around 170 degrees and that's when it's in the 90's. Just my in put.... Griffins makes one too that fits and works really nice not as pricey... Another suggestion from the suggestion people. LOL

Go to autozone and get the V8 radiator. It costs $80....and my hotair car would cycle the the 160 stat with a cheap electric fan, on a 90 degree day.

Thanks for the ideas. I had no idea you could get one from auto zone for $80. That sounds better than the junkyard and getting it cleaned out.
I have enough trouble with knock and the extra heat doesn't help.
Any advice on good oil cooler?

I used the Summit oil/trans combo cooler - it cost me around $100 and seemd to work well. The trans cooler was a little small for my likings so I ran it in series with one I felt comfortable with.

For the tranny cooler, use the plate style B&M Supercooler, I think it is called...Get the biggest one...Last time I bought one, it was like $50...

B&M Supercooler (11" x 7") # 70255 This number was taken off of the gnttype website...I think it can also be used as an engine oil cooler, but you would need to buy an adapter or something to plumb it into the motor...

oil cooler

90' and below Caprice police package or taxi cab have nice good size oil coolers. That is what I used, works great. Got sandwich adapter through Summit. Lines and fittings you should be able to take care of with local parts store, not a big deal.

what was your motor temp with this set up?

I'm just yanking your chain Jeremy. We went with the be cool because it's a really nice looking set up and we show and go. Take care.

Are there any better narrow ones that will fit the stock shroud?

The only better one that is narrow would be to order one of Nick Micale's hi-efficiency rads...His prices are really reasonable when you compare them to Be Cool and Griffin, etc...
