hey guys, need a new radiator but cant find one for the 84. an aluminum one is what im looking for but would settle for a 3 row. Does anybody know where to get one ?

Do a search for aluminum radiator. I know alot of guys are running one from a third-gen camaro or something similar that they are very happy with. I don't know if it works with our hot-airs, but someone should chime in that knows pretty soon.

An aluminum radiator for a 88 Camaro with the 5.7 is what you want. Advance or Auto Zone either one will have them for around $114 with a lifetime warranty. Just block the trans cooler holes with plugs and get an aftermarket cooler.

Nothing wrong with the cooler on a F-body radiator. Should be the same size and if anything a little bigger than the original. You might have to reroute the steel lines. And you cant use the stock fan shroud. You will need to convert over to an electric fan. I am doing this conversion right now on my 455 Regal and I used the stainless steel cooler lines from Classic Tube for a hot air car. All I had to do is bend them a little to clear the lower hose. I am using the top radiator mount plate from a 307 V-8 car with the Intrepid cooling fans.

i work in strauss and i got a new three row rad from an 84 monte carlo ss which is bigger than the stock one not aluminum but will do the job the same its about $100 and the dual 12 inch fans from flex alite fit perfect on that rad good luck

Is this radiator a direct replacement or "Mods required"?
No oil cooler installed on my hot air.

Mods required. You will have to find a way to hold the radiator and also convert over to electric fans.(Seen guys cut the stock shroud to hold the top of the radiator in place then make little brackets to mount the fans) Did anybody mention the Ramcharger fans....I run these they work awesome and are cheap...like $90!! I have a direct replacement radiator on my car which I believe was around $130. I didn't know about the F-body radiator at the time. If you want a direct replacement then go with that. F-body is bigger and cools the car better. If you want to keep the stock shroud & fan then get the stock replacement as it will look & install right.
Side question - you guys find it better to install a tranny cooler inline with the stock cooler on the radiator or as a stand alone unit. I have mine ran inline with the stock cooler??

Looking for a direct replacement "no mods required, better" radiator. Do you know what F-body radiator that is?

Bought the car with the seprate tranny cooler installed.
Tranny cooler in my car is not used.

I think I may have confused ya with my post?? You can buy direct replacement radiators for our cars and the most common upgrade is the F-body radiator. There is no F-body radiator that is a direct replacement for our cars. I found a radiator guy on this list and got mine from there(84/85 direct replacement radiator):

Otherwise I think you could probably get a F-body or 84/85 t-type radiator from Autozone. Are you keeping your car stock?? Nick

Nick,

I am easily confused. :D
Appreciate the reply.

Pulled the motor and decided to upgrade a few parts in the process (Can you say "stock appearing" ?) Even the stock air filter housing will be put back on, with a K&N. My location is in the South and the AC system has already been rebuild and converted, so, comforts are important to me.

Not really going to race this daily driver but feel (Still not sure why) that I have to uphold the reputation of these cars. Mid 13's is fine with me. So, stock? HECK YES it is! :D Guess I am no different than most.

I will call this guy. Thanks!

Nothing wrong with keeping it stock appearing.. Let us know how you project progresses.

For our radiator set up we went with a be cool with twin fan system put on a relay that kicks in whenever the car reaches 185 temp. This system directly bolted in and was set up for the car. Not cheap but a nice system.
