Well I finally got my GReddy four row intercooler on today. I put about 10 gallons of 115 octane in and went out to try to tune my car. At first it was running great at 28 pounds of boost, but later in the day it started to blow the spark out. By early evening I could only run around 22 pounds of boost.
So I am out running around and I come upon two cars at the light, about 3 cars in front of me, getting ready to race. It turns out one was a turbo Civic. The car that won was a turbo Integra. I pulled up to the Integra and told him "good kill". He said he wanted no part of me, but he went anyway after a little prodding on my part. I gave him a 1 car jump from 30 mph and floored it. I pulled about 5 cars on him to 80 ish mph. We went one more time from a 15 mph roll and I pulled two cars on him and quickly let off. I slowed down and asked him what he had done and his friend that he had with him said he had a T3/T4 with a front mount intercooler and upgraded fuel system.
After racing the Integra I cruised around for about 20 min, when I saw a black Grand National with white 10 spoke rims parked in AutoZone parking lot. I pulled up to him and told him that I liked his car. He said thanks and said he liked my car. He thought it was a Celica. I asked him what he was doing. He told me that he was looking for some fast cars to run. He asked me if there were any around here. I told him there were a few if he knew where to look. He asked me if I had anything done to my car. I told him that it was a stock motor with a few mods. He said "like an intake" I said "yeah, it's got an intake on it". I asked him what his car runs. He told me that it ran a 12.18 in the 1/4 mile on street tires and that it had a PT52 turbo in it with upgraded fuel system and stock stall. We watched a brown turbo Regal T-Type drive by, I smashed him twice about 2 months ago. He asked me if there were any cars around that were sleepers. I told him that I would show him one that was a serious sleeper if he would follow me in his car about two blocks. He told me to lead the way and he would follow. I pulled out and just started driving down the road. I goosed the gas a few time to get him to bite, he did on the third time. He nailed it and pulled up hard from about two cars back. When his car was pulling along side I nailed it and he gained about a 1/4 car on me for about a 1/2 second, than I pulled on him hard. I pulled about 2 cars on him when he let off. I followed him into a parking lot and told him that my car was the sleeper that I was talking about. He could not believe he got pulled that hard by a Toyota.
After I raced him I was on my way home when a bike came up behind me and started to gun it. I nailed it with him about 1 car behind me. By the time I let off I had pulled several more cars away from him. We both pulled over into a Shell station parking lot and talked for a little while. His bike was an older Ninja ZX10.

Afterwards, I see two friends pull up on their bikes, one on a F3 and the other on an F4i. The F4i and I go out to race, the F3 just tagging along to watch and do some wheelies. I ran him from a 20 mph roll. We both started out in first gear. We were side by side to about 105 when I started to pull on him hard. I let off and we did it again from a 40 mph roll. This time I just pulled away from him and let off again at about 90 mph. He was impressed. Him and I both have a mutual friend with a blown 99 Mustang Cobra. They raced last night and the F4i pulled him hard the whole way. The Mustang Cobra traps 127 in the 1/4.

I can't wait to get my ignition problem fixed and crank the boost up some more.

sounds cool to me for a t78 supra to do that...

some on here might get roudy about it but i have a few friends with supras and i know what they can do..just dont find a fast turbo buick with sticky's on it and run from a dead cause as most supra guys know you'lls cars run real good on top end and ours are down low cars.

sounds like you had a fun night...you dont happen to be over here on the east coast are ya?

REDS HOT AIR,

Thanks.

There are a couple of GN/TR around here that are faster than that one. There is one that pulls 1.5 second short times:eek: and runs the 1/4 in the low 10's. I also have a friend with a very nice GN that is strong from a stop.
I am not trying to slam your cars. I have a lot of respect for them and know what a properly set up one can do.

I am from Indiana.

Good kill

Since your in Indiana you should run Patrick Rubio of PTE www.precisionte.com :D He has a "slow" street driven Gray '86 T-type with a plate that reads RUQWKNF!;) BTW, if you want to really wake up that Greddy T78 turbo you should get some 264/264 cams:cool:

I wont cry BS but that is one stupid GN driver if he really thought all you had was an intake. Supra's are wrose then GN's in that they could be 16 second hogs or 11 sec whoopass mobiles. Of course he thought he was running a Celica:mad:

Thats a pretty crappy 60ft time for low 10s. Most GNs that run 1.5s are in the low 11s. Low 10s for a GN is usually in the 1.3 60ft range :D

Yeah, TTA89 has a point. The one GN I know of that ran 10.03 @133mph down here did it with a 1.40 60' time and if I remember correctly Geno ran 9.90 @136mph with a 1.36 60' time. The only GN I can think of that ran low 10's with a 1.5 60' time would be Nashty (Roger Davis) who said he ran 10.25 @131mph with a 1.52 60' off the foot brake.

That guy I ran in the GN knew nothing about turbo cars. He told me he had the car for two weeks and that he bought it off of some guy that was getting a divorce. He told me it had a PT52 pound turbo. I asked him what he meant by "PT52 pound" he said it runs 52 pounds of boost. I told him that my car has a T78 turbo and that it has a 66.5 mm inducer wheel, and I told him that if he or I ran 52 pounds of boost our motors would blow up. I told him that the 52 is probably the inducer wheel size. The guy was totally clueless. He did not run the low 12 in the 1/4 mile. He told me that the guy he bought it from did.

The other GN I was talking about...the low 10 second one, I have never seen it run. I am just telling what others have told me about the times it runs.

BTW...Upgraded cams are on my list of things to get in the future.

The guy was totally clueless.

I think most TR guys were a little unknowledgable about our cars when we first got em. I know i was

What et's do u run/expect to run? I'd guess pretty good ones by some of the cars u beat. Low 11's?....if so, not bad for an import:D jk

sounds like a cool run to me, too bad the guy doesnt seem to know much about his own car yet...just give him a while, maybe someday he'll give you competition. however, i cant help but ask why you called your car...a supra...a sleeper!!? i dunno about that one, but anyway, kudos on the kills!

I didn't mean to make it sound like I was trying to bust on him. He's actually a really nice guy. When I got my Supra almost six years ago I didn't know very much about turbocharged cars either.

I call it a sleeper because it looks totally stock. My Supra doesn't even have a wing on the back. It looks like a slow N/A car.

Bob

Nice kills. Kinda an odd first post. :p

I have a couple friends with Supra's. A few BPU and BPU+ friends (one without a fin  ), a MKIV with HKS twins and two guys with MKIII's.

Turbo cars own.

ive met a couple supra owners where i live and one has told me there is a guy rollin around with a T88 and he slapped it on after merely getting intake and an fmic and now it goes slower. he took it to a track and ran a 14 something...not the smartest thing i ever heard, but if he got more mods i'm sure he could have a dope car with a nasty top end.

You can't just slap a big turbo on a car that is pretty much stock and expect it to run good. There are other mods that have to be done if you are wanting your car to reach it's full potential. To really be able to enjoy and appreciate it fully you have to get all of the associated hardware to make it run the way it was meant to be run.

Nothing wrong with not being knowledgeable about a new car, but dont go LOOKING for races when he didnt even know a thing about his own ride and then wonder why he got spanked:eek:
