Re-installing parking brake cables??

HOW do you re-install the parking brake cables at the lever (At the brake drum)? , I tried for an hour today......Any tips or suggestions? Thanks.

Clamp a pair of vise grips to the cable end, grab a pair of sidecuts & gently squeeze them between the cable end & spring, and drag the spring up the cable while keepin tension on the vise grips. When you get ample space for the lever to hook, gently squeeze the sidecuts just enough to keep the spring from slipping, remove the vise grips, and install the lever. Let go of the sidecuts and VOILA! Good Luck.

Right on! I wouldn't have even thought of the vise grips. Will give it a shot tomorrow.

I've also had annoying problems with parking cable re-attachment. Perhaps my excuse to get a special tool for this task !
