Hey everyone, hope all is well. I’m pulling the motor in my 85 GN so I can re-seal it, freshen it up. It runs fine, so I’m not pulling the heads, but I want to replace the rest of the gaskets as they are tired and little leaks from all over. I read on here that the factory seal with the head gaskets is great and if it’s not having a problem, then leave it alone. It’s a basically stock car, just the conversion over to the 86-87 ignition coil pack. I plan on keeping pretty close to stock by the advice of some of you on here.
What I would like to replace is the timing set, oil pump, injectors and MAF. I also want to upgrade to the 86-87 computer for the electric fan and more data with scan master. I thought about the cam shaft and valve springs but on the fence about that.
I would like your input on what else to do and what I have as the part replacements.
Timing set would be roll master.
Turbo tweak to setup a nice chip and get the injectors and MAF there.
I don’t know what to get for the cam and springs. I have read comp cam springs are good and bad so what’s the consensus on that?
Oil pump, I don’t know who is a good, reputable brand?
Lastly, a Hotwire kit possible for the fuel pump if it’s worth upgrading to the 255 lph pump.
There’s 139000 miles on it according to the odometer and looks as though that is correct.
Oh, and a thermostat. It runs to 180-183 according to the gauge, in normal conditions, so I’m assuming it’s a 180 degree thermostat. Can I put a cooler one in to have the temps run lower? We run the A/C in it on the hotter days, sometimes it hit 190-194 in traffic but cooled to the 180’s, 170’s when we started to move. That was on 90-95 degree, humid days I noticed. What brand is recommended?

So, guys and gals, any other advice of what to do and not to do I would appreciate.
Thanks again and I hope to get out and meet up with some of you in the Northeast area at shows and what not.
If this helps for additional information, my wife and I enjoy cruising the car, hitting it once in a while on the highway and running to the shore.
Thanks again and sorry for the long post!
