Joe Smith started the day early having set his alarm clock (MADE IN JAPAN) for 6 a.m. While his coffeepot (MADE IN CHINA) was perking, he shaved with his electric razor (MADE IN HONG KONG). He put on a dress shirt (MADE IN SRI LANKA), designer jeans (MADE IN SINGAPORE) and tennis shoes (MADE IN KOREA). After cooking his breakfast in his new electric skillet (MADE IN INDIA) he sat down with his calculator (MADE IN MEXICO) to see how much he could spend today. After setting his watch (MADE IN TAIWAN) to the radio (MADE IN INDIA) he got in his car (MADE IN GERMANY) and continued his search for a good paying AMERICAN JOB. At the end of yet another discouraging and fruitless day, Joe decided to relax for a while. He put on his sandals (MADE IN BRAZIL) poured himself a glass of wine (MADE IN FRANCE) and turned on his TV ! (MADE IN INDONESIA), and then wondered why he can't find a good paying job in.....AMERICA.....

That is so true, The trade deficit has gotten totally out of control.
190,000,000,000.00 with china last year alone!! yes that's BILLION!
We are turning into a service industry while the 3rd world slowly chews away at the American dollar.
Let's not forget the Billions upon Billions in foreign aid given out every year to countries that hate us.

Would you like fries with that?

It would be easier to buy USA made products IF we made some.
We actually manufacture so little and it is OUR (yours and mine)FAULT that we don't. You can't really blame the foriegn companys for picking up the slack...it's called smart business.
EVERYONE is guilty of purchasing foriegn products. EVERYONE. Even most "American made" products are not.
Sad but true

I agree that we do buy a lot of stuff that is made in other countries. However, some of our biggest US companies are to blame as well. They send out the work to cheaper countries to make more profit. Apparently $3 billion in annual profit they need to hurt the American economy even more by sending jobs to other countries so they can make $5 billion in profits. we all support this behavior as well by investing , buying stocks, contributing to our 401k's, etc... Companies need to make money so their stocks perform well so people like us will invest in their companies.
