rear brakes

Can i just do the 4 big shoes on the rear brakes without doing the s10 wheel cylinders.And if I do it will it help any on holding the car so can build some boost.

You will gain a small advantage by installing just the pads. However, you might as well put the cylinders on too while your at it. Doesn't really take all that much longer and then you're set.
