Hehe, I just changed my rear end lube this past weekend for my stock posi. I can't say I have a favorite since this is the first time I've done it. However, after perusing the boards I ended up just going with Red Line 75W90 Synthetic Gear Oil (Quart Part # 57904). Per Red Line's information you shouldn't need any limited slip friction modifier additive when using this particular lube. I didn't use any additive and haven't had any problems chatter yet (though I only drove it for about an hour around town after the fluid change). I did go ahead and buy a couple of bottles of additive just in case I need to squirt some in later (Red Line 80301 Limited Slip Friction Modifier).

I do recommend ensuring you can open the lube fill plug before you take the cover off. I don't think my fluid had ever been changed so it took some time and strong negotiations to get the filler plug out. (I'm assuming you don't have an aftermarket cover with its own fill plug).

Man the same questions get asked over and over on this board and there's always a different response. I bought some synthetic lube for mine last month and asked about it... a few guys jumped on me saying synthetic was NOT recommended. I returned the Mobil 1 synth and bought some Valvoline dino specifically for limited slip differentials. So who really KNOWS what's best. I would assume any quality brand will do at this point.

I run the royal purple since it has the friction modifiers in it already. Goes in my Zo6 and Suburban rear ends as well. Reminds me, I used leftover valvoline syn 75w-90 I had from my boat I threw in before BG that I need to swap out. It was late, the stores closed and I needed to have a fluid change before racing.
