It might be a good idea to make sure you need the sperm whale oil before adding it. If the clutches aren't that 'grabby' there's no reason to make them even slicker.

Man, it must be cold where you guys live with all this oil pre-heating! I just cut the tip off a bottle of standard 80w90 gear oil and lift it up and jam the end into the factory hole and squeeze the bottle until it is empty. Repeat with a second bottle until it starts running out the hole. I put in a bottle of the GM posi additive before I start putting the gear oil in. I forgot the additive one time and the posi was making some noise. Noise was most evident when backing up while turning to get out of the driveway.

It gets Farking cold!! ..But i have had those plastic pumps fall apart in my hands during warmer weather, too.. Yeah, i have some Lucas posi additive, but i think i'll use that in the 9'' in my 70' Bronco, & get the GM stuff. There's just so much torque in these cars, & i've read so many stories of howling rear gear sets in relatively low mile cars, it probably pays to use the factory stuff.

Lets get this back on track;) I use 80/90 (pick the company) with the posi additive in it already.

I’m about to do a rear end oil change and axle seals.

I need to buy rear gear oil, posi lube and the axle seals by the drums.

This has been great information.

Does anyone have anything helpful to add before I dive in?

VERY thin smear of right stuff on the axle seals prior to installation in an extremely clean axle tube. I got real good at changing axle seals until I used that trick.

I've never needed to seal the OD on axle seals since they have that rubberized coating on them.

Now lubing the ID with grease, on the other hand, is a good way to keep from smoking it on the first minute or driving.

I use a sucker pump like this to put my fluid in
