i have a 91 z-28 with a gn drivetrain .
my question is i pulled a 9 bolt rear out of an 88 formula ta whats the difference between that rear and the t-t/a rear mines has discs with brake pads that are the same size as the front brake pads, and a plate that says something like" posi 3.45 gears".
how much could one of those rears take power wise , with my old combo i went 11.90's at 116mph ... a lot has changed since then my new combo should take me into high 10 sec territory or super low 11 second territory depending on how brave i feel..so will my rear be able to withstand all the abuse or am i going to spit axel and ring gear material out to the spectators?
olso is this rear stronger than my old 7.5 ?

The brakes will be different as they changed in 89. Also you have a TPI 5spd rear if its a 3.45, so it has better gearing.

You should be OK with that rear for awhile. Its much stronger than the 10 bolt it replaced.

Yeah the 89 rear had PBR calipers, much much better :)

The actual rear though is the same.
