Just got bilsteins about 4 months ago and within a month, the pass side rear was leaking oil. i sent it back for a replacement but while it was away i bought a cheap pep boys shock and by the time i put the new bilstein back on (about 2 months later) the cheap shock was leaking. I know for $13 i cant expect much, but two months? and a bilstein within a month? anything that can cause a shock to go bad like that?

Sounds fishy to me as well. I would think something is causing that shock to stay at least partially compressed. First guesses would be control arms/bushings or spring problems.

i thoguht springs as well, but they were put on when the shocks were, brand new cargo springs. as for the control arms, they are UMI tubulars about 6 montsh old.....i pretty much did all of the rear suspension at the same time. i would understand both sides going bad, but just one side?

Do you have a wheel hop problem?.
Do you have an extremely heavy wheel/ tire combo?.

nope, not wheel hop....i have draglites and nitto DR's, so i dotn think theres a weight problem...
