I had an idiot run into me while I was stopped at a traffic light going 35 mph. I obviously shot forward and hit the car stopped in front of me. The idiot in question took off and was not caught. I have had this car since new and can't even begin to explain how pi$$ed off I am. Original paint etc, no show car but a real nice unrestored car. Since I am in the process now of getting it restored I am asking if anyone could give me a heads up of any common issues these cars could have after being in ths type of accident that might be hard to see. I am from a small town in Ontario Canada and there are not very many people knowledgable on these cars in the area that I know of.
Thanks in advance.

Not seeing the extent of visual damage. Are the rear 1/4 panels bowed at all around the tops of the wheel openings/ back window? That is the most common crush zone. A 35 mph impact would certainly show in this area.

The passenger rear quarter has a small bow in it and there is a nasty sound from the back
end in reverse. A quick look at the trailing arms looks like they are somewhat bent.
The trunk floor has some slight cracking around the caulking not no buckling.
I think when the bac of the seat broke and I slide to the back seat my foot coming
off the brakes may have actually helped. Once the appraisers paperwork is done I can get it on a rack
have someone look at the tranny. I will get some pics up soon. Thanks.

The weak point of the frame is the arches over the rear axle. Bumper usually gets driven down causing the frame to bend in that area hence the bowed 1/4 panel. There is usually light damage in the trunk unless hit above the bumper in the taillights. The noise could be a number of things, the exhaust hitting would be ideal as far as money wise. Axle in a bind is possible along with trans damage. Look at the door to 1/4 gaps. Another good indication.
