I'm rebuilding the trans in my 91 blazer 4x4

What special tools do I really need? Ones that are required.

TIA

Pump alignment band to get halves matched. Some people turn the pump upsidedown in the case and align it that way. I have the installer/sizer sleeves for the solid teflon rings on the input shaft. I never use the scarf cut rings. It's easier with the overrun and forward piston seal tools but can be done with the lip seal "wire on a stick". That's really about it. Remember, cleancleanclean and band adjustment are critical. :)

GNeric - Have you rebuilt a 700R4 before? If so how did it go? Was it what you expected?

Do you recommend any master kits?

Thanks,

also you will need a lo reverse clutch spring compressor.we are a hayden trans tool distributor if you are interested in any tools as well as a master kit.solid ring as mentioned are mandatory, maybe a shop can install them for you if you dont buy the tool.

I guess I've built a few. Been doing it for 17 years. :D Chris is right. I did forget about the low/reverse spring compressor tool. I probably build a minimum of 2 a week. Sometimes I build around 5 a week including here at home. I learned about automatics on a 700 and it was a learning experience. ;)

I get my kits from a local distributor and they are Precision paper/rubber kits with either Alto clutches or Raybestos clutches.
