Happy Holidays all.....

Going to rebuild our 84 gn's engine this winter, and Ive read in so many threads to look for the "Buick Power Source Manual".. Cant find it anywhere, does anyone here have any ideas... Books that I have been able to locate do not have many pictures.... and you all know the old saying "A picture is worth a thousand words". Thanks.

I have never been bale to get my hands on that book.
Are you rebuilding it yourself? What is your rebuild/performance goal?

Using the Poston performance rebuild kit, and we are hoping for 12's 13's, we are also going to try Alky Injection. We are doing most of it ourselves, just looking for a good, close machine shop to assist.

Do a search.
There is a good machine shop in WI.
Did you read the recipe's on GNTTYPE?

There is a big difference between 13's and 12's - About 65 RWHP ;)

Edit;
Just a word of advice.
Even if you find a GOOD machine shop, make sure they have hands-on experience with TR motors.
There are some tricks that the average SBC machnie shop will not be aware of.

I have been able to pull a 14.0 stock, so I would love to try for low 13's. On a budget of course.

In regards to the machine shop, we thought we found one, but when looking at our car, they were puzzled. Seems they excel in Mopar's.

Very nice.
Post your mods, and boost etc for that 14.0 run.
Do you know what your mods will be for low 13's?

"Budget" is a relative term.

Not many mods, just poston headers, 2 1/2 in. straight pipes, electric fan, K&N air filter, boost was at 16. Trans has a shift kit. For the low 13's planning to bore the block 30 over, poston cam, forged pistons, ported throttle body, and alky injection. What is your opinion of the mods? You guys have been in this a lot longer than I have.

Remember opinions. ;)

Your mods look to be on the "proven track".
Are ya'll (A southern term :D )planning on porting the intake/heads and upgrade the turbo?
Since you already ran 14.0 @16PSI, you won't need these mods to get into the 13's, but at least hand port the intake and heads. The porting will make is easier to get to your goal, and you can do it at low boost. In addition, based on your goal, if the cam is good, leave it in.

Be sure to add a converter (for the cam/turbo if you decede), scantool and TT chip in your budget. What does the car weigh?

Yes planning on porting the heads and possibly the intake and leaving the turbo stock for now. As for the converter I'm planning on a 2800 stall, and look into a TT chip. I havent done anything to the car to lighten it up so like 4200 LBS.

Have you converted the ECM?
I "think" most TR's are believed to be lighter than that. I have read from 3500 - 3700 ....... Not sure about T-Tops.

no I have not converted the ECM, I just took a guess, whatever they weigh stock.

my T type weighs in at a hefty 3400 pounds..
but it's about as stripped down as you could possible get from the factory- the only non-standard T Type options i can find are the tach/boost gauge and the rear window defogger, so it's maybe 5 pounds heavier than the most stripped out "base" turbo regal could be potentially ordered.
