I am a TTA owner...but my other pride and joy is a 70 Firebird 400. The one thing that is proving to be a pain in the rear on this car is the power steering pump which of course is unique for 1970 only. It is the key type pump and only PS pump to have the narrow reservoir and which belt runs behind the alternator belt...auto parts only supply 71-74 saginaw pump
This will be the 2nd pump in less than a year...Any recommendations or addititive I can use to prevent the bearing from failing. The rareness of the pump and reservoir is proving to be the Achilles Heal of this wonderful car. Anyone else have PS Pump problems. The current pump I have on the car had to be matched by my auto parts store (after 5 misses) finally found the correct replacement with the mounting holes in the correct position. I had to break the reservoir seal and reuse the seal to fit my original (1970 only) reservoir which really sucked.
