Just got my trans rebuilt and a new converter in it and it won't shift.
I put 14 quarts of fluid in the trans, and did the standard TV cable adjustment (with the 'routine' TV adjustment procedure, the nose of the cable was all that was showing out of the housing (about 1/4" of the cable. I'll take a pic tomorrow to better show what I mean). Then I warmed the car up for about 10 minutes. then jacked up the rear and ran thru the gears....reverse is good, first is good, but it wouldn't go past that. I let it run on the jackstands for 5 mins. max, then I let it down and checked the fluid. Seemed a quart low, so I added one, which bought it up to level. Jacked it up again, but it still did the same thing. WTF
I took it up the street about an 1/8 mile. First gear feels good, not slipping, but you can feel the converter is definitely looser than the stock D5 that I blew up....feels much better now (9x11....thanks Bruce
). But it won't shift....what is wrong with this thing??
I turned around and put it back in the garage.
After that, I adjusted the TV 2 clicks further out (pulled cable towards front of car), jacked it up again and ran it thru the gears, but still the same, no shift. Didn't want to go further than that so I called it a night.
Opinions anyone? More TV cable adjustment or is something else amiss?
TIA
Steve
