Mine will get you to the mid twelves. It is an old design. Do they sell E85 in CA?

I know a couple of places with E85 but they are about 30 mi away. Is that what your running?

E85 makes it easier to safely build power. I run 93 octane with a Razor meth kit. If you look at my signature you will see that my engine needs a bigger turbo, E85, new TT chip and bigger injectors. This would put me into the elevens. This is not going to happen because what few dollars I have are going into body work.

How is this? sorry I'm kinda new to the forum. Basically you're saying by using alky and E85 my car will put out better??? Or is that just something I need before doing upgrades.

In the end both E85 and Methanol injection in the best. I will come down to what is practical for your situation and your wallet. I personally stopped at 12.6 quarter with 93 octane with a Razor meth kit. My Turbo is to small for my head and intake work. E-85 is a great race gas alternative as it is very forgiving when it comes to detonation. The downside is the availability of the fuel and the 20 % less MPG. The cost of e95 is a lot bigger injectors. larger fuel pump and a new chip. Brad

Thanks bro this info helps me, now I'm gonna do some reading on alky so I can know more about it but it's gotta really help all my buddies are running it

Do a lot of reading. I will not make the e85 change because of the cost. All my friends have made the change an it works. Brad

What's the cost? I thought people just get bigger injectors and a chip. Even stock cars need fuel pumps right?

I thought you don't need to change fuel lines, so basically you get a chip and the proper injectors and you're set?

There is no need to run alky and E85. Back in 1999 I ran 12.58@106 with my hot air. Stock turbo, stock 141,000 mile engine. Only mods were K&N filter on the mas, 160 stat, custom high timing chip, race gas (E85 can do it), valve springs, dumped exhaust, drag radials. I was 17 and clueless.

You are correct here. My problem is the TA33C turbo-Not e85. I can convert to e85 but it will not do any good since my turbo is too small. A custom turbo will run easily $1500 plus the cost of the chip and injectors. I decided to leave the car alone and fix some bodywork.

I was in the SAME position you are now 20+ years ago. If I were to do it now here is where I would start...
1. Learn your car.... Learn to tune.... Grab binders, you will need them.
2. Research your goals
3. Do not be persuaded to put a 86-87 motor in your car. It is amazing to see people eyes when they see a FAST Hot Air car...
4. Decide which adder you will use: E85, Alky, Propane, NOS or Intercooler (in HOT AIR Configuration).

If there is one thing I would have done from the start, that would be is to get heads PORTED. Regardless of where your goals take you, PORTED heads will help you at any stage.... You can run lower boost and still have Power...

Damn bro I was 17 in 99 also, but any way thanks for the info because I'm a lil scared of using shit like alky and nos head gaskets are a pain u know

That TA33C is not that small, compared to the stock Hot Air Turbo. Many have got their stock turbos into the 12's. E85 will allow you to run more boost. That TA33C has a TA49 wheel in it and most 86-87 have ran mid to low 11's (Couple of guy have got to the 10.90's).

This is possible with stock heads and intake?

My car needs to be painted, so needs a little bit of body work as well. I might end up rocking the car stock for this year. I did purchase #80 injectors that came with a chip for E-85, I don't know if I can tune it still to work with my stock setup but I can always just get a chipped burned.

How far can you take a stock hot air turbo? Is there a certain max psi you can safely run it at?

With Tuning, it could be possible. Stock heads could benefit from Porting and also porting the Intake. Not many people can do this. Search forum for porting Hot Air intake. Lee Thompson, Jaime, and Brent have went into the 10's with ported iron heads and intake. To my knowledge, MiAde2d is the only Hot Air with a intercooler and Hot Air intake to go into the 10's (He has GN1 heads and NOS).

Do a search on Lee Thompson. He modded the factory headers and formed a 3 in Downpipe with external wastegate. He went into the 10's. Ms Jaime (TURBO6X2) used his headers to go into the 10's. Brent (BOOST231) had Poston Headers with a custom 5 in exhaust. HOTAIRGNX548 has custom headers and downpipe
