That TA33C is not that small, compared to the stock Hot Air Turbo. Many have got their stock turbos into the 12's. E85 will allow you to run more boost. That TA33C has a TA49 wheel in it and most 86-87 have ran mid to low 11's (Couple of guy have got to the 10.90's).

Did they do it with the hot air compressor housing? You lose 10% flow right out of the box,

Drew Carlton ran 11' with a TA33 and Terry Penner Sprayed NOS on a TA33 in the 11's also.

TA- 49
  • Stock appearing
  • 3 bolt turbo
  • 58mm compressor wheel
  • Stock or blue top injectors
  • stock or minimum stall converter
  • Flows 800 cfm
  • 545 HP
  • High 11s
This is the most popular upgrade for the turbo regal. It looks exactly like a stock turbo, except the larger inlet bell, and will go deep into the 11's with the right combo.

This is very good information. The truth is that my wallet does not have the balls to push the TA33C that far. I checked out at 20 lbs boost, 18 degrees timing and afr 11.8. I destroyed one motor and blew a head gasket on another. This is not a complaint in any way. I just enjoy being safe on my tune.

Hey Brad... When you decide to go higher, you have another 8-10 lbs to play with. Searching the forums produced HOTAIRGNX548 ran 11's with Lee Thompson headers/downpie, alky and TA33.

What's the fastest stock turbo hot air car?

I plan to run E-85, whats the most boost I can use the turbo at?

I can tell you for sure than any attempt at this will be on E85 and larger injectors.

Search the forums.... We know that most have went 12.50-12.80's. Marka Gallana went 11's with a blue printed stocker... NO Alky. Anything is possible with determination and tuning.

In a earlier post, you stated you were going 63lb injectors and E85. This is a solid combo and you will see 11's. Some one on the board was misting alky with E85 and it really cooled the high boost. With the 340 pump, E85 and alky (insurance policy;)), you can boost 30lbs +. You know your car better than anybody... You will sneak up on your combo sooner or later... You have PAID your dues.. Time for seat time:p and some satisfaction:D

This is very good information. Just convert to e85, 80lbs injectors and a new TT5,7 chip. I then can crank up the boost to the max(25lbs?) I will think about it. Brad

I was safely running 26psi true hot air with 120s/E-85 and a slightly larger than ta33 turbo on my previous setup....no times, but the car ripped and would keep pace with a heavily modded IC car...all the way to 159mph (where the IC car's head gasket shit the bed) ;)

You finally coming around to the corn side Brad?

Well I think I might get the dynamic EFI ECM, and just run that with the car stock other than maybe a custom 3" downpipe, try to max it out on E-85.

Save some money on the downpipe. The problem is the turbo elbow. 2 inch. Brad
