Anyone know what it is? What's the deal with it? How far away from production? I wonder how it compares to the Extender Plus?

A friend of mine said he had one on his car in Bowling Green. Anyone else see it?

It is known as the "Raptor." I have seen it, looks good. There are few out there but I think they are still in the development stage. You have to use Red's chip with it.

Ron Joseph has the info on it.

It replace the stock MAF with Red's setup. From what I understand, you could have a 4" inlet to the turbo but your turbo compressor should have the 4" compressor bell.

When it is available, I will have one:cool:

Good job to vendors like Quad Air "Red Armstrong" and TA Performance to keep the Buick V6 Turbo going. Wait until that aluminum V6 block is out, you will seen a new door open up.

I agree Billy! I love to see/hear about new products like this coming out. With all the Mustangs out there putting down near 500HP to the ground(saw 2 of 'em yesterday), progress in the Buick world is important! I would like to hear MORE about this one! Where's Ron?

Yeah I agree wheres ron? I also would like to hear more info on reds new mass air. I got a couple on their way out and am looking for a replacement.

ron if you are out there make a post here and give us some info on it, educate us on Raptor, give us the scoop as we all want to learn.

From what I`ve heard, Red is still working out the low end driveability issues. Obviously, the WOT is worked out, seeing as 4 out of 5 people in the TSE class at BG were using them. Except for the winner. (Speed Pro) Congrats Bruce!

I'd be interested, but FAST doesnt use MAF.

Matter of fact, I have a stock MAF and a LS1/translator which will be for sale shortly

Uses a proprietary chip huh? Sounds like someone changed Bob's design juuuust enough to call it their own....

Red presented his at the Turbo Tech session at the nats. It was all aluminum and looked to be a 4" that necked down to a 3", possibly providing a venturi effect(?). He said that he had about a dozzen of them on cars now for testing, and at that time they idled and worked well at WOT - everywhere inbetween still needed work. He said that they won't be shipping till they're working 100%. He also said that benefits would only be seen on fast cars (what he considers that to be wasn't said) and wasn't built as a stock replacement. Price also wasn't mentioned, but he said that unfortunately it wasn't likely to be cheap. There is at least one piece that's sourced from a Lightning.

Red is the man!

Hope this helps.

Who is making an aluminum V6 block??? Will it be for 86-87 TR's???

TA Performance, try doing a search. Let's please not change the direction of this thread

what is the update on the new TA performance V6? Did they have any at the NATs?

If you guys look at the whole picture and keep adding up cost after cost you are half way home to a nice felpro...... I am not saying that the raptor is not a good piece it is..... I am just saying spend your money more wisely, remember with the felpro you can take fuel out on the fly, also a more forgiving system when you are running lean....... Guys when you are done you will have over a $1,000 invested thats with modified cpu, chips and more chips.... Someone has to burn those chips and if you do not like next door you are out of luck, waiting on the waiting game....
Myself the felpro was the best piece of equipment I bought for the Buick.......

It is 4 inch necked down to 3.5 inch. It is a nice piece and will measure the air all the way down the track and add fuel if it sees more air. No more 255 max. It will work on any TR when completed and the next few months. It is plug and play and a whole new ballgame. People will have to change their way of thinking with it. If you are turn up the boost because you are fat it will not work. It will see more air and add more fuel. To fine tune, you must adjust the fuel pressure. I am impressed with it and ran 10.19 on the 3rd pass using it with a bad 60ft and hitting the Rev limiter. You can bet Red will not sell them untill he has the everything right. Well made piece! I believe it will be well worth the price when released.

Bob I agree with you red makes some real nice things that have always helped us buick guys out..... I just think that for a few more hundred you can get into a felpro or the new Accel out there and be ahead of the game......

Amen.

Joe, after looking at the Direct Scan 02 fuel curve and my EGT. I don't think would be that much ahead and that Felpro would cost about fours times more. You are right the Felpros are nice, I guess I just like messing with that old stock stuff. You can tell that if you saw my Q-Jet on my Pontiac. But you know I have out run a lot of Holleys and Barry Grants. I am just hard headed.
Take Care

How does he remove a limitation of the ECM???? If he 1/2's the AF reading, then he stole the workings of a translator!! Bob Bailey invented it. Actually, I think it was Granatelli that did something similar with dials to calibrate hi, med, low airflow and, well, I dont see that on anyones car....musta not worked well. Again, as I have been reading, the ECM starts to wig out at somewhere around 180gps. This is why guys like Bob, and Jay Carter, Mike Pitts, etc, invented MAF locks, and in Bobs case, a fuzzy logic kinda MAF reader.... ask him, its really ingenious....

I hope this new piece isnt stealing Bobs bread and butter, cuz that just aint right! And would probably make the translator the last device he makes for us...
