depends on the clutch...I really like the Alto reds in most of my setups, espcecially any of them that carry an upshift load ...(the band, direct clutches and OD clutches) I use them in my forwards as well. But my dad and i just put his tranny together in his GN and we used all alto except we used the blues in the direct drum and it shifts just as hard as my GN. IMO reds or blues won't make or break the tranny if the pressures are good and it has a good shift kit behind it.

I Have Found The Blue Friction To Have Poor Shift Quality In The Direct Drum, much Like A Poor Brake Pad Used With A Brake System That Functions 100 Percent Hydraulically.takes A Long Time To Stop, not Good.

This is the same kind of question as with fluid. Everyone has their preferences and that is what they think is best. Both will give you good service and I will not say one is more superior to another. We used blues in the direct drum and we have yet to have any problems at all with them.

You won't go wrong with either, our choice is with the blues however and it is mostly personal choice on this issue. With our set ups, the blues work best for us.

thanks, Mark
